How can we replace Tamil with Hindi as one of the official languages of Singapore?

Congress was in power for 70 years, ask them.

Exactly why we have kicked them out. I promise you that in next 70 years of BJP rule we will definitely have few Tamil HC for Singapore. It's a promise. Hopefully based on this grave injustice from Congress, don't ever vote for them..ok?

The policy of both Congress and BJP towards Tamil will always be the same -anti Tamil. They are the different sides of the same coin

While I cant speak on behalf of Singaporean Tamils, I dont think Indian politics (or appointment of Tamil speaking Indian HC) matters to them as they are 5th to 6th generation migrants, disconnected from Indian national /regional politics.

But it suits Indiá's agenda of Hindi promotion through its consulate or HC

this shows how the 2 races - Tamils - Chinese are socially and cultural integrated, not the case with Tamils and Indians

I am all for Tamil supremacy.
You won't find any objection from me. Make tamil Indian national language, I won't object.

That's not the point.
Congress was in power for 70 years and screwed Tamil people.
I am only requesting you, a champion of Tamil cause to oppose Congress for supporting LTTE & sending IPKF to help SL govt and for general atrocities against Tamilians.

Please show your tamil champion credentials and tell us how much u hate Congress.

I had a Indian Tamil coworker who is proud of the few Chinese word he know after stayed in Singapore for school and work is more than he know in Hindi. Some Tamils are not just pro Tamil, they are anti Hindi.

With all the recent rape cease in North India, I can see why they want to distinguish themselves from the Hindi rapist.

It’s already happening.

The Indian government has responsibly nudged the tiny island state into replacing Tamil with Hindi.

The tamil diaspora is a tiny minority in Singapore (6.9%) but they are a threat to Hindi nonetheless. Only a systematic approach can help remove this dying language so we may put Hindi in its rightful place.

It’s a decrepit language that is mostly insular. Even Singaporeans do not appreciate Tamils (local or otherwise) as you can see from this article:

You might also notice that Ambassadors of India are always appointed from North India and almost never from South (never from TamilNad) unless they know Hindi.

This is so they don’t misrepresent us abroad and always persist on spreading greatness of the Hindi language and our culture.

There is access to Hindi language classes, bollywood movie showcases and yoga classes on almost every Foreign Mission and Consulate of India.

Singapore committed to keeping Tamil as an official language, says cabinet minister

Singapore, May 13 (PTI) The Singapore government is resolute in its commitment to Tamil as an official language, Cabinet Minister S Iswaran has said, citing examples of it being used in parliament and as a subject in schools.

Iswarans remarks appeared in an interview published in The Tamil Community and the Making of Modern Singapore -- a book on the South Indian community -- launched by Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan today.

"The governments policy position and support for Tamil is clear. The rest is in the hands of the community, especially our youths, to embrace the language, use it in everyday life and make it a living language," Iswaran said.

"The Tamil Language Festival is one way to achieve this by engaging and involving the younger generation and wider community in this effort to celebrate and promote Tamil language and culture," Iswaran, the minister in charge of Trade Relations as well as Communications and Information, said.

A clarification , no passion, admire Tamils for their fight against Aryan / Brahmanical /Hindián tranny and hegemony e.g Sri Lanka civil war 2 million poorly equipped Tamils took on 20 million Sinhalas and giving Indians (IPKF) a bloody nose , Tamilnadu - Anti Hindi agitation etc.

So your ridicule and insult has no effect, rest assured .... soon I be fluent in Tamil :smart:

Tamil is a hideous language. It sounds like a bunch of rocks being rattled in a tin box. The sooner it is replaced by Hindi the better.

It doesn't but I find it strange that Sinhala language is Indo-european and not dravidian like in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam which are spoken in south India.

Is it because Sinhalese people are from north India??

Sinhala people are the descendants of the Kingdom of Kalinga and their language evolved from Telugu.

Telugu is considered as Dravidian language but not Sinhalese. Why?

There was no Aryan vs Dravidian in those days. This was a new concept started by the British to conquer India.

All South India languages evolved from the Grantha Script.
