IMO, to even has a chance, this is what Ukraine has to: draft more than 4 million soldiers and send them on a kamikaze offensive backed by every single tank and artillery the Ukrainian army has. Even if victory, it would be a pyrrhic victory. It would be far more brutal compared to the Chechnya war because Donbas is backed by neighboring Russia which is a superpower along with China and the US.

What is your suggestion?

.
exaggerate must??
-4 million soldiers
-kamikaze attack
-every tank and artillery
is Donbass a fortress???
is this the Iran/Iraq war???
the siege of Stalingrad???

this whole mess could and should be solved peacefully.

Calm down Superboy, just because you can log into your account and post, doesn't mean you can write shit.
There is no way Ukraine can get 4 million soldiers, it itself has 100,000+ (many defected therefore numbers fell) soldiers thus would require to put over 3.9 million volunteers, highly doubt they can get that.

Like C130 said, Donbass isn't a fortress but I don't think Ukraine wouldn't want to go to an al out war with Russia. Also NATO wouldn't want to get involved in a war that would result in high casualties and given the fact that Ukraine isn't a NATO member NATO would be discouraged to take any military initiative against Russia.

Russia wouldn't want more economic sanction and thus would refrain from going to a war with Ukraine. Also there are many pro-Russians in the Eastern part of Ukraine, many former Ukrainian military personnel and also several militias within the region want to merge the East Ukraine with Russia (or free from Ukraine).

This is a proxy-war between NATO and EU against Russia and you can see one accusing the other of war-crimes and funding "terrorists".

Donbas is thousands of times as tough as Saddam's Iraq.

You're right, the people of Donbass - are tough guys, Cossacks and miners. During WW2 the Nazis even issued an edict not to take the miners in captivity, because they were ruthless to invaders.

There is one article regarding this subject on Ukraine TV.

More than half of Ukrainians surveyed in the poll do not want Donbas to leave Ukraine

Only 16% of Ukrainians want the Donbas region to leave Ukraine, according to a new poll conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology. More than half of the people surveyed in the poll were not ready to lose the eastern region.
