How can Afghan refugees be repatriated?

Yeah I have also come across Afghans that say that NWFP will be made part of Afghanistan. They say that pashtuns (both Afghan and Pakistani) want Pashtunistan. This is one of the reasons that fencing that border is controversial. Actually I would like to know from the Pakistani pashtuns on this forum if they also support the idea of Pashtunistan?

yes we do support the idea of pokhtoonkhua but not at sacrifice of pakistan , we chose to be with pakistan otherwise we could have joined afghanistan during independence, however fencing the border is not welcomed nor would we allow that as we have families on the otherside and its our country is on the otherside.

Well, we could technically give nationality to Pushtun population but kick out Tajiks and other refugees.

can we stop afghan bashing please, they are not refugees, most afghans in pakistan are pushtoons and therefore they are most welcomed.

We the pakistani pushtoons share ancestral, cultural and historical heritage with afghan pushtoons more then any pakistani.

it pains us to hear such comments from respected forum members who should realise they are what they are because of afghan bravery and conquests.

Afghani refugees don't want to be repatriated. We can work with a million aid agencies who would provide for them in Afghanistan but the fact remains, that ultimately we'll have to kick the majority of them out against their wishes.

Only thing is, it should be state managed and not part of a riot.

Well you are very wrong, am born and bred pakistani, yes i do have anti punjabi element in me, because when u ask a pushtoon to chose betwen an afghan pushtoon or a punjabi then u know what the answer is going to be,

Punjabis share indian heritage while pushtoons and balochs share afghan/iranian heritage so links are always going to be stronger in that sense.

As far as tajiks are concerned well i have no probs with them, they helped conquer india with ghaznavi and ghuri, so they did alot more then u can offer which is their life.

what if people of sarhad and balochistan say they can remain as its their land as much as our, what can the goverment or anyone else do?

The only thing that they can do is move them from punjab and sindh.

Most of Pashtuns don't like Afghans because of their hatred for Pakistan and their bad behavior towards us. There was a saying in Pashto these days which is fact changed like: If you see a snake and an Afghan in your room kill Afghan first. Because they are very untrustworthy and 'ihsan faramosh'. There are very few Pashtuns who may want a greater Pashtunistan and the only reason is economic deprivation.

There where bombing during the zia era that where 100% linked to the afghan govt but we did not start shouting lets throw all the afghans out.

That was quite different situation. At that time we were fighting Soviets and were using refugees as our clout. The resistance was started from refugees camps. Some Afghan worked for Afghan government too and they were the ones who were committing crimes against Pakistan. But now not only Afghan governement is hostile to Pakistan but also common Afghans and also the Taliban sympathizer. We seem to have lost all our friends there.

Send all those who are jobless or are invovled in illegal activities.Anyone running legit biz should be given PAK Nationality and it would have been much better for us to bring back Biharis then take these ungreatful sobs.

well thats the only fact about pakistan that hangs my head in shame.. we should do something for them.. they are living in mess over there and we are not even bothered about their plight.. they are suffering because they choose one pakistan and instead for doing something for them , we have totally forgotten them... tch tch

Few facts need to be addressed. Two heavily bribed institution of govt of Pakistan, first passport office and national id office employees played vital role in making these illegal afghan refugees legit. Few years back same game played in Karachi when thousands of id cards issued to illegal Bangalies .

If govt decides to expel them it wont be a problem to identify them. Even Pashtuns of Afghanistan can be very easily identified. Police knows everyone.
