On Sunday i.e on 13th August 2017, Yasin Yatoo aka Mehmood Ghaznavi was shot to death after an 18 hours encounter by Indian Army in Kashmir. It is a major setback to the Hizbul Mujahideen when Yasin Yatoo alias Mehmood Ghaznavi, a top Hizbul commander, was killed in a gunbattle with a joint team of the Army, CRPF and J&K Police at Awneera village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A special joint operation was started by the Army’s 3 Rashtriya Rifle and special operations group (SOG) of police at around 6 pm on Saturday. They had got a tip of five militants.

The encountered militants were identified as Umar Majid Sheikh, Irfan ul Sheikh and Ghaznavi. Unfortunately two of our brave soldiers namely Sepoy’s Ilayaraja P and Gowai SumedhWaman sacrificed their lives to the operation.

Police also had an encounter with the locals as they came out of houses and started stone pelting at the security forces team in order to help the militants escape the scene.

Police took action against the locals by firing tear gas shells and pellets resulting into several casualties amongst protesters.

One of the longest surviving militants in the Valley was Ghaznavi, who lived for 41 years. He was the chief of operations in Kasmir and had successfully carried out operations with cadres after the encounter of Burhan Wani.

Ghaznavi had joined militancy in 1996. He was the resident of Budgam in central Kashmir, and was arrested several times. Although he went missing after 2015 after his release and a Hizbul statement had also declared him dead.
Thereafter he was seen in south Kashmir on 8th July after Burhan’s assassination and conducted huge public rallies in different parts of the region.

Since then he was on the hit list and hence was successfully assassinated by the security forces on Sunday. This is considered to be a major achievement for the Army and police.

The change is beyond just militants getting killed. There is a change in people's attitude they have become sick of militants and separatist agenda. NIA should not go slow and act against the people who are funding the terrorism in the valley. We recently caught a person who was using travel agency to fund the militancy.

Where to start with this statement . Do you know how many people turn up for a funeral of militant ? In Thousands . I suppose you don't need me to post all the pictures . Meanwhile when it comes to a normal police few dozen show up . Tells you the whole story .

frankly these rats wouldnt have lasted for these long if not for sickular congress. They had a free run bcos congress spent more time looting the country than governing it. This multipronged attack on hurriyat and terrorists is giving good result. The level of desperation is quite evident from the fact that these sissy rats call upon civilians mobs to save their ***.
