The Brits starved Bengal to create an effective dead zone between the japs in Burma and the rest of British India.
It was a massive trauma to what was the effective rice bowl of the region. It was a holocaust that remains in the psyche of Bangladesh and West Bengal.

actually,the reason was that while Singapore,Thailand and Mayanmar falls,Britain itself drew food for war reserves.now these 3 countries supplied around 20-25% of India's need.loss of that amount of food created a large vacuum in states like Bengal,Orissa and others.Punjab alone couldn't fulfill that deficit.also,various provinces prevented export of food as they saw that it could be them too..so they tried to reserve what food is left.that just worsened the situation.

As you can see the reactions of some Indian members on my post, it was quite easy to lure them into the trap.

They range from being apologetic of Churchill's crimes to defending fascist Japanese war crimes to mocking their own death by the satisfying fact that starving the millions is somehow ok because the Brits made the Chinese opium addicts.

If you ask me, there are some very sick minds amongst them.

Or try to get yourselves the kind of leaders (at each next election) that will spread the wealth and clean water and cheap good food to the people?..

(1) one could say economic sanctions imposed by current western leaders / the UN on some nations have caused the locals there to experience famines, and this is true. however, those nations have refused unconditional inspections for weapons of mass destruction, and their leaders have always made sure it was not themselves or their corrupt friends or their (most important) troops who went starving or without luxuries during the sanctions, and insisted on the right not to be inspected or not to stop WMD projects (while lying with smiles about how peaceful they supposedly are), while they could have put their nations' efforts to the development of exclusively peaceful technologies and made even the deserts around them bloom, as far back as ever since plastic and plumbing techniques was developed (do ask how this is true, folks).
(1.1) and it's utter nonsense to call for violent revenge actions or violent resistance of any sort against enemies who you can't hope to change by violence, and who will never let you gain a military-technological edge over them.
