first you did the wrong thing by carrying the baby home, you should have taken it back home, which you cannot do now, the parents would throw the baby out, its been probably more than 4-6 hours gone since you picked it up.(Im guessing)

feed him tiny, very tiny pieces of roti. dip your finger in water and twice a day a drop of water. thats it. it will survive inshallah.

why wud thy do dat?:what:

as far as our local sparrow is concern, it is quite probable that they wont recognize the baby, depends on its age. the maximum they remember is 2 days, while minimum 4-5 hours.

so if she takes it back to the place where she found it and its parents do appear chirping, they remember, else gone.

Feeding aside..the biggest problem with baby birds is keeping them warm as them being bald cant keep their body temperature..
you will need to keep it in a heated space with straw or wool around it,so that it doesn't lose heat...

Yeah I agree with Leader, you shouldn't have picked it up. The bird's parents would automatically start searching for it when they discover its gone. I advice you to follow Leader's advice of checking out the tree, if the parents seem distressed, there is a good chance all is well. Good luck :)

Plus, pics please. It would help a lot.

heating would be on in the house,no? but still keep it in a shoe box with cotton if possible, else use a cotton cloth piece.

squirrel babies fell, luckily I was there, kept the crows away, after some time its mother came and picked all three and took them home, same may not be true for birds, you have to help it reach its nest.

and ofcourse we would appreciate picture of the baby bird :)

@Leader it was out in the open (literally on the road)....the nest was on a really tall tree...

And the thing about the parent not accepting it after human touch is a myth...A colleague took a pix of another colleague holding it...Will try to get the pix :D

I just got back after returning it near the tree...will check on my way home...IF it is still there will take it home...It loved our warm hands...And a lot of colleagues from other labs came over...

My boss was teasing me as to no more pets in the lab mainly because all technicians and researchers came over to go awwwwwwwww... and I was like kmon its cute...and he started laughing at me...

Oh yea! It is not really bald...Full feathers and it was gliding in the lab...pooped on the lab table too

oh believe me these sparrows have alot of issues, I remember once a featherless, a day or two old baby bird, fell and its parents refused to accept it, and threw him back again and again. the human touch is a myth but the birds do refuse and stop recognizing their babies. its a beautiful world to observe.

if its feathered, then keep it for some times with yourself in a cage if possible, else crows would have a good launch. gliding isnt enough.

by the way, is there no rescue animals/birds service in UK? should have called them.
