@Argus Panoptes not sure it looks like a sparrow or a finch....I think it would want insects coz it keeps sticking it tongue out

Sparrows and Finches eat seeds in addition to worms I think, but I am not sure. I am sure that in any country in the EU where you might or might not be, a call to the local zoo will identify the bird and provide information about its diet and care too.

@Argus Panoptes it was taking flying lessons in the lab just now  Think am gonna leave it near where we found it as online sites say if the baby is in early stages of flying, its parents will take it in...

It doesnt seem fond of soaked bread...only managed to feed it soo little....used a syringe to give it water though...

@acetophenol yea the nest was on a very tall tree so that WAS NOT AN OPTION!

Please do not give it soaked bread as it will probably choke on it.

Try putting crushed seeds and water in front of it and let it feed voluntarily.

@Argus Panoptes nope its a spoil brat...we kept some soaked bread in the box in a weighting plate and the bird went and sat on it.... when i put my finger in, it opens its mouth wide...am guessing it is still used to being fed by its parents...

sadly, no seeds in the lab ....waiting to take it home or drop it near its nest or something...will figure later right now need to get some work done...we named it DNA  yea, my lab is crazy :P

Feed it pure energy. :woot:

On a serious note though, birds can be very fragile creatures, so try to be careful if you decide to handle it or move it.

On the way back from canteen we found a baby bird and I picked it up ...the nest was on some high tree so I wanna know if anyone has SUCCESSFULLY raised one and what was it fed? :what:

first you did the wrong thing by carrying the baby home, you should have taken it back to nest, which you cannot do now, the parents would throw the baby out, its been probably more than 4-6 hours gone since you picked it up.(Im guessing)

feed him tiny, very tiny pieces of roti. dip your finger in water and twice a day a drop of water. thats it. it will survive inshallah.

dip the roti in water if possible.

and ofcourse we would appreciate picture of the baby bird :)
