Hong Kong Tops U.S. as Most Competitive Nation

Hong Kong is a haven for hot money to make quick bucks and leave. Other countries make it hard for hot money to come in and leave, and are labeled "hostile" to foreign investment.

The low-taxation makes this hot money economy possible, because Hong Kong is not burdened by defense and social welfare spending like other normal countries, leading to low quality of life for average Hong Kong citizens.

The fact that average Japanese and Korean full time worker's wage is above the GDP per capita, while it is way below for countries like Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, and Singapore is the proof of this.

Hong Kong survives it's pre-1997 memories .... somehow...

A Glorious past ... but a doubtful future.

There is always been a looming dark shadow.. which prevents taking long term decisions with respect to Hong Kong now.

Make quick gains while HK still has something left .... earn and move on.

Unfortunately Hang Seng isn't giving returns.... hope it sees the 30,000 mark gain.

Or atleast 25,000.. to give a chance to exit !!!!

today's Hongkong's global position and ranking is much better than it was 15 years ago, that's a great achievement in the past 15 years,a generation's hard working, you Indian really don't have any credits to criticize the top city in the world.

Good going hk, city states forever :)

Yes, readily agree. It would have been much better of as a free city state.

Now, it's like living one year to the next .... nobody can be assured what happens in 5 or 10 years.. leave alone planning a permanent residence.

you can refer to what Hongkong achieved over the past 15 years.and why you talk about planning a permanent residence?you don't have a home?

don't agree with that. Smaller city states always depend on a larger neighbour to prospere. china ensures hk competitiveness giving access to her financial markets and other areas. Not to mention provide for water, defense etc
