Hong Kong Protest Against Extradition Proposal Draws Hundreds of Thousands

If you do not do thing that harm China interest, why would you be afraid?

What is 'China's interest' exactly, and how is it differently interpreted by mainland Chinese and HKers?

Take for an example, writing an article in HK about a top mainland official involving in a corruption scandal.
To mainland Chinese, the writer is a troublemaker and harming 'China's interest'.
To HKers, it's the individual's freedom of speech and political right to expose any criminal wrongdoings of corrupted officials.

So who's right and who's wrong?

You guys have different political and legal systems, different access to information, different political beliefs, and different interpretation of what a citizen's political and legal rights should be. And they will inevitably clash from time to time.

So what happens when these two different interpretations clash?

Of course we know that ultimately Beijing has the final say on who's 'right', and to HKers that is a breach of what they believe is 'one country two systems' and their rule of law.

Hence the protest, participated by even traditionally pro-mainland businesses.

I wouldn't call it 'China interest', it's China state laws. What the meaning you have laws, but you failed to implemented it in your soil? Why one should scared if he/she didn't commit anything wrong according the state law? It wasn't about how it interpreted by each side, but about some matter being pulled and twisted for other side interest.

There are plenty of report from HK media about mainland, I cannot remember how many times Jiang has been reported dead by HK media. Rumors mill about China leadership is non-stop in HK. To think that China would want to punish anyone on every little trespassing is obvious exaggeration.

You know, there are multiple channel in China that you can contact to report corrupt official.

But if that corrupt official run to HK, there is no way that official could get punish no matter how many news article about his/her corruption get published. Because there is no extradition law exist to bring him/her back to China. And I heard there are plenty of those officials currently in HK.

I was just giving an example on why HKers don't trust the mainland's judiciary system. There are plenty of other examples...

This is my IMHO to your example case:
Someone should have VERY strong reason by publicly accusing high top gov't official with his article. It was serious accusation case, while he could report it to state anti-graft bureau. If later state find your accusation have no solid ground, you're done. I think thing like these work in most countries, 'democratic' or 'non-democratic' (according Western standard).
From my view freedom of speech and political right should done according law and good manner with good intention and it should 'breed' within nation itself based on its own principle and culture. For HK cases there was some bunch of anti-mainland liberals supported by NGO's (not all protesters of course), controlled by foreign forces.

Lol. Is that what is said in the little red book of Mao for their stupid population? Hahahhaha. They are refugees from China to the democratic, civilized world.

Meanwhile, that same world only laughs at you.

I am in no way to argue for or against your filthy, disease-proned, (gang)-rape-culture, women and religious persecution+massacres, and yuck .. toilets; cremated-ashes-clad undressed indians running around en-mass or sitting totally unproductive for days smoking grass (another yuck) under indian's "democratic" and "civilised" governance in your own terms ...You should keep all these and more decadence for your own demise!

The whole universe is laughing at you!

Young HK ppl were taught to hate CPC by their parents, their Christian priests.

Thats why educationis very important, when u get the wrong education, u will become extremist.
Wow this is actually the most sane shit you ever said. They are brainwashed to lick whiteballs just like the Indian elites( well-fed ones). They do not believe in their own abilities to govern themselves and think only the Whites can rule.

But current Vietnam leadership is showing same pattern. They worship US now, the same people who raped kill and gassed millions of Viets.

There are still protesters near the main government building in Hong Kong. On Sunday, the Chief Executive Carrie Lam apologised for her role in trying to get the extradition bill passed. She acknowledged it had caused disappointment and distress to many, but she stopped short of saying the bill would be withdrawn. China's Foreign Ministry has said it supports Lam, but opposition lawmakers have joined protesters in calling for her to step down.

Most of these people are young, they will continue to pose a problem for China in many years to come. It seems like they're not satisfied with anything the leader says now, which shows there is more to this.
