The Japanese Honda Motor Company is going to manufacture motorcycles in Bangladesh this year as the company's concern "Bangladesh Honda Private Limited" is setting up a motorcycle assembling and manufacturing plant in the country, reports BSS.

This was disclosed at a meeting between Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu and a delegation from Bangladesh Honda Private Limited at the Industries Ministry in the city, said a press release.

Among others, Industries Secretary Muhammad Abdullah, Chief Operating Officer of the Honda Motor Company Limited Noriaki Abe, director of the Asia and Oceania Region of Honda Motor Akira Murayama and Managing Director of the Bangladesh Honda Private Limited Yuichiro Ishii were present in the meeting.

The meeting discussed various issues, including policy supports for the development of motorcycle industry and spare parts production for motor cycles.

In his speech, Amir Hossain Amu said the government is providing special focus on modern technology based industrialization through providing all sorts of policy supports to build manufacturing industries.

So, the motor cycle industries are also getting all facilities, including tax benefit, in the country, he added.

The minister said the spare parts for motor cycles will be produced through joint investment or Industries Ministry operated factories.

Japanese Honda Motor Company started its operation through opening a joint venture company with the state-owned Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) called 'Bangladesh Honda Private Limited'.

Honda Motor Company is the world's largest motorcycle manufacturing company, which wants to start production in the factory in this year.

As per the plan, they will produce one million motorcycles in the first year. In the fifth year, they want to increase production to three million units.

Honda Motor Company produces motorcycles, cars, robots, equipments for electricity and fuel and aircraft products.

I believe that the parts will be imported and this Honda plant will be assembling the motor cycles in BD. I just wish Honda to import only those parts, even though they are manufactured in some other countries, which are used in its assembly plant in Japan proper. I have reasons to believe, parts used in Honda factories in other countries may not be equal to those used in Japan proper.

When they talk about aircraft products, they are talking about this world-beater (Honda Jet). Sorry for being a little OT but it is a very specialized niche product from a company specializing in many excellent niche products. As you can tell - I have been a lifelong fan.....:-)

Honda new bikes product line for 2018.

The Govt. has to gradually tighten tariff structure to encourage local sourcing of parts and to wean these guys away from sourcing parts through Honda India which is probably happening unannounced. Honda has to invest in local parts manufacturing and sourcing. The models are almost identical to Honda India models.
