Hollande's visit in India : 2 major deals on the table

We knew we will buy 36 French built Rafale jets. Now we also know, there is second part to this, which is make in India program. So total will be, what we have been saying, close to 180.

In reference to Scorpene subs, I hope we go for full available option. Which is 6, bringing the total number to 12. I also think because of these huge deals, French will be giving a TOT on the back end, or helping India in other projects, where they are struggling.

So January 27th will be good day.

I'm also excited about Modi's visit to Russia. Lots and lots of goodies. Santa is in a very giving mood to India.

India's adversaries will have sleepless nights, ef that, I think no more sleeping for them, and more reasons t of being jealous.

You know, what is more scarier, all this is only for this year's deals. Imagine, what SANTA will be giving us next year and the next and the next year. As long as Modi is in office, he is determined to make India, not strong, but LETHAL.

+ yes, 6 Scropenes is GREAT news, earlier reports had been 3, then 4 but 6 is truly awesome and it's quite impressive if the MoD pulls it off and addresses the IN's biggest weak spot (its subs). This deal should kill off the Kilo offer and probably the P-75(I).

I think we are finally seeing a GoI/PMO/MoD that is willing to take advantadge of these juicy govt-govt offers that come up instead of going after long-winded open competitions for every single requirement that take years to materialise. It's rather sickening how many opportunities may have been missed by successive GoIs in the past.

Lot of kickback in this deal..... Sadly we ended up with 11 of our workers killed. I won't even debate about who killed them and for what reasons..

I not 100% convinced bro that getting additional Scorpene subs will kill project 75i. Most of our subs are old, they need replacement. They might wait an extra year for more funds to become available though.

According to latribune.fr,2 major deals should be part of the discussions between Modi and Hollande ;

-Rafale deal (a first order of 36 Rafale)
-6 more scorpène submarines

The Elysée also stated "The visit of Francois Hollande is also in line with the Paris Climate Conference where "India has played a key role for an ambitious agreement,"

It is estimated that the deals could be signed by the end of January. :partay:

French defence giants seem to have taken a major lead over Britain's defence giants in India defence procurement these past years. It shouldn't have been the case, judging by the historical relationship between India and U.K. :hitwall:

@FrenchPilot you people seem to be trespassing your boundaries. You should focus on countries like Algeria/Morocco:D

I not 100% convinced bro that getting additional Scorpene subs will kill project 75i. Most of our subs are old, they need replacement. They might wait an extra year for more funds to become available though.

Too bad we don't make diesel/conventional subs, only nuclear ones like the U.S. :(
I think it was a big mistake our leaders made to focus only on nuclear subs, as its conventional diesel subs that countries get to export their submarines to other nations, since nuclear sub is sensitive A NO GO AREA for exports.:disagree:

I hear this sentiment echoed a lot but it doesn't make much sense to me, the only "shared" history was during the colonial period- not exactly something Indians look back on with fondness. Since independance India's closest defence ties have been with the Russians, French and more recently the Israelis and Americans.

That said, India's defence relations/procurements are not based on sentiment but cold hard geopolitcal realities and economic sense. There isn't a huge amount of defence products that would be of interest to India- the Rafale has trumped the EFT (not that that is overly British), the Scorpene class SSK has been selected (no British competitor), the A330 MRTT has been selected (no British competitor) etc etc. The French defence industry's capabilties are just that bit more relevent to India. Addtionally the Type-26 was offered to India but rejected in favour of domestic designs, let us examine how much more succesful the French are at securing defence exports than we are- the Type 26 has no such orders, the FREMMs have multiple.

The Hawk AJT, M777 (depending on how you classify it-as American or British) and AW-101 are the only exceptions to the rule.

+ @mike2000 is back I should add, recent British foriegn policy has been notebly pro-Pakistan and, to an extent, anti-India and don't think this goes ignored in the corridors of power in New Delhi. Backing Pakistan at the expense of India because of our domestic compulsions (ie Muslim votebanks) has been an absurd move.


++ Outside of defence, because France has not systamtically killed off its engineering prowess, France is a much more logical choice for India also. Look at the recent $5BN Alstom deal with Indian railways- we have NOTHING to offer as an alternative, look at the fact that an Indian airline (IndiGo) signed the largest aviation deal in recent times (250 Airbus for $27BN USD)- we have NOTHING to offer as an alternative, look at the AREVA power plant being set up in Jaitpur, a $15+BN USD deal for 9900 MW- we have NOTHING to offer as an alternative, in fact French firms are building our plants and now even the bloody Chinese (we are also asking the Chinese to build some of our HSR projects)!

Biggest complaint we Indians have with Britain is the way they use the term "ASIAN". We know how successful our Indian brothers and sisters have been in Britain for generations and we are fcuking proud of them, but the way they are clubbed with the child rapists is not done. They need to get their act straight and drop the Political correctness or else they will keep on whiniing about business going to other western countries.

As a Brit of Indian ethnicity I have to say it enrages me enourmously whenever those scum pedophile gangs made up of 99% Pakistanis (the occasional Bangledeshi, Afghan or Somali is also implicated) being reffered to as "Asian". There has not been a SINGLE instance of an such an despicable organsied activity involving Indians but we are "lumped" together with those animals.

Polical correctness is explicitly to blame and it's not just Indians who are asking to call a spade a spade, police forces have gone on the record to say that is it unhelpful to refuse to accept that there is a specific problem in specific communities. In fact police and political powers refused to properly investigate these crimes for fear of upsetting these aforementioned communities. The Pakistani community get far too much rope in this country:

My friends,i wonder why India isn't looking after a more modern and stealth submarine such as the SMX-Océan (Literally a conventional version of our future Baracuda submarines) ?

France is offering Australia full transfer of stealth technology and local employment. :cheers:
