Hold your tongues! That mid-flight beggar isn’t Pakistani

DOHA – A middle-aged man started begging from fellow passengers in a Qatar Airways flight, a video of which went viral on social media over the weekend, to the amusement of many.

Previously, many Pakistani media outlets claimed that the incident took place on a flight bound to Colombo from Karachi. This had set tongues wagging, and had resulted in several adverse comments regarding Pakistan and Pakistanis.

However, it turns out that the incident took place on a flight headed to Iran’s Shiraz International Airport, originating from Qatar’s Hamad International Airport.

The beggar was reportedly of Iranian descent and the air hostess tried to stop him, repeatedly reminding him that this was not allowed in the plane. Later on, a male flight attendant too tried to get him to return to his seat.

Taken by surprise. two individuals did give him the money.

This incident is the first recorded one of its kind.

A video of a beggar on an airplane bound for Iran has been making the rounds on social media, setting a brand new trend.

In the video, the man can be seen asking for help from the passengers on the plane, while the flight crew tries to get the man to move.

A few of the passengers can even be seen giving money to the man.

Earlier, it had been reported the incident had taken place at the Karachi airport, however it was later clarified by the Civil Aviation Authority that the incident had taken place on a Qatar Airways flight.

The flight had been traveling from Doha to Shiraz, according to aviation authorities.

As a nation we seem to have developed a habbit of assuming worst about ourselves and then there are some knuckleheads spreading false news on social media. Last week nationality of the person who commited sucide in Saudia Arabia was declared a Pakistani till his whereabouts were posted by authorties.

Then when it is known that it is misinformation they slip it under the rug as if nothing happened while before they were harping on it.
