Nepal church blast mastermind caught

More than three months after a bomb went off during mass at one of Nepal's oldest churches, killing three women -- two of them Indians, police on Sunday arrested the mastermind who is the head of an outlawed Hindu militant organisation.

Ram Prasad Mainali, chief of the Nepal Defence Army, a shadowy outfit that had asked all Christians and Muslims to leave Nepal or face dire consequences, was caught with three associates from southeast Nepal.

The four men were said to be armed and were caught from Rajgarh between Jhapa and Sunsari districts in eastern Nepal.

Mainali and his NDA, that claims to be training Hindu suicide bombers, had taken responsibility for an explosion at the Assumption Church in Kathmandu Valley's Dhobighat area in May, killing a schoolgirl and two women during mass.

Soon after the blast, police had arrested Sita Thapa, who reportedly admitted to having planted the bomb in the prayer hall, after being paid by the NDA.

Though Thapa is behind bars with police having charged her with the three deaths, Mainali and the NDA had been at large, continuing to intimidate Nepal's Christian community with extortion calls and death threats.

The NDA has also owned responsibility for the killing of an Indian priest in southern Nepal last year, Father John Prakash Moyalan, and setting off bombs in two mosques in southern Nepal killing two men during prayers.

The Christian community treated the news of the arrest with cautious joy.

"We thank the government of Nepal for executing its duty," said Father Robin Rai, a parish priest at the Assumption Church. "We regret the crimes committed against humanity."

However, the priest said that Mainali's arrest did not mean the anti-Christian attacks would stop.

"A few people have been arrested. But the network still remains. Only the future will show what happens, Rai said.

The NDA's success in intimidating the Christian community has inspired other extortionist groups.

A new outfit calling itself the National Defence Party and claiming to be the mother organisation of the NDA has renewed the 'quit Nepal' threat to Christians, warning that it would soon start a movement to restore Hinduism as the state religion in the country.

Nepal is Hindu kingdom, the atheist chinese fools have no power to change that.

Still its not state religion in Nepal. This Hindu militant group is forcing Christians and Muslims to change their religion and also forcing them to pay extortion.

China has nothing to do with this please keep off topic things off this thread.

Chinese are here! :partay:

Pro-China Maoists attacked Indian priests?

NEW DELHI: Even as the Nepal government assured protection to Indian priests at Pashupatinath temple, there is a strong China connection emerging into the attack in Nepal.

The source has also added that the Maoists are working to a plan to try and supplant India with China to further their own political ends. The Maoists are also stoking anti-India sentiments in Nepal so that China can step in and take advantage of the situation, added sources.

This is incidentally happening in the backdrop of China trying to sign a number of key agreements of the type India enjoys with Nepal.

s90 lets keep China out of this thread.

Thats another issue.

The topic is about Hindu militant group in Nepal that is threatening Christians and also training Hindu suicide bombers.

Thanks Jana for posting yet another exposure of atrocities of Hindu terrorists.

China is part of this problem, remember Nepal is 80% Hindu and 10% buddhist, if the majority of people want hindu as the state religion what is it got to do with you? are u Nepali Jana. Pakistan is a muslim islamic state so why can't Nepal be a Hindu kingdom? like it was b4

Sorry you are going off topic here.

We have no issue if Nepalis want any religion as state religion for themselves.

I am only talking about this Hindu militant group that is operating in Nepal against Christians and Muslims.

Please keep Pakistan out of it. We are neither talking about India here.

Its Nepal and the Hindu militant group that is also training Hindu suicide bombers which could be dangerouse not only for Nepal but the surrounding countries too.

Nepal Defence Army demands Christians leave the country

Published: June 02, 2009

A Hindu extremist group calling itself the Nepal Defence Army which claimed responsibility for bombing the Assumption Catholic Church in Kathmandu has demanded that all Christians leave the country.

According to media reports, a statement released on May 29 by the group calling itself the Nepal Defence Army (NDA), said, "We want all the 1 million Christians out of the country, if not we will plant 1 million bombs in all the houses where Christians live and detonate them."

NDA is believed to comprise former soldiers, former policemen and victims of Maoist guerrillas, UCA News says. It claims to have trained suicide bombers to fight communists, Christians and Muslims. The shadowy group's main objective is to restore Nepal as a Hindu nation.

The Nepali government, formed in 2006 after former King Gyanendra Shah was forced to give up absolute power, had declared the country secular. The Maoists, who led a decade-long insurgency in this Himalayan nation, joined mainstream politics the same year after signing a peace accord with the government.

Since then, several Hindu groups have protested the government's move and demanded that Nepal be declared a Hindu nation again.

Bishop Anthony Sharma, apostolic vicar of Nepal, feels that Christians do not need to be alarmed in the wake of the NDA statement. "The NDA has always been threatening us and I feel this recent threat is just another one. There is no need for us to worry," he told UCA News on June 1.

However, he said that security has been stepped up in Christian churches across the country and police have been posted round the clock at Assumption Church in Kathmandu.

Reverend Isu Jung Karki, a Protestant pastor, told UCA News that the NDA is simply trying to terrorise Christians and that making good on their threat "is not that easy."

"These kinds of threats will not in any way affect our mission in Nepal. We have been through similar times during the Panchayati days and we worked for God in those difficult times," he said.

Why you think a Hindu terror group operating in Nepal has anything to do with India-Pakistan relations????

Terrorism dont have nationality or religion. Terrorism is plain terrorism. It is same as calling Islamic terrorism which is offensive.
