Hindu hardliners go on rampage after Kashmir flood appeal

How do they know it's the VHP? It can simply be college students calling the name - 'VHP' to reinforce their clout! Think about it - it's possible. We can't rule anything out.

Ignorance is bliss.........even Dawn is quoting Indian sources but since you are in oblivion, read to your hearts content.

Yes shameful. Rowdy students? First time in history? Or first time in India? :hitwall:

Did you forget your college life? Did you stay the good boy like you did in school when you were in college? Did you readily donate money (you did not earn then remember) to the charities in your town/village?

Ask students to donate money for their own farewell, and the first thing you will hear is that - 'The college should pay...we pay them enough...' Private colleges often charge enormous amounts anyway.

There have even been accusations of donated money being ... well... never mind.

There are plenty of channels for charity - and Indians all over have contributed to the best of their abilities. We can't come to a conclusion on an unilateral statement released by the College authorities. The rowdy behavior should be dealt with - but the cause can't be determined at the drop of the hat.

And you came to the conclusion that I'm a muslim because? AT the very least muslim and left wing is an improbable combination. ANd no VHP workers won't go to jail because rabid right Hindu wingers will protect them like you are doing now.

You can not be a Muslim, because even moderate Muslims love their country. You only love Sonia !

Yes. I am protecting VHP workers because I am the President of India, PM of India, BJP president all rolled into one !????!! :D

What can the Indian occupied Muslim Kashmiri people expect from a nation who have democratically elected a Hindu Fascist Narendra Modi as their Prime Minister.

Very shameful.

More to follow...

Or was it rhetorical? :D

They will be arrested soon and put behind bars. They will not be allowed to roam freely unlike Hafeez Sayed

Yea let's see how that turns around. Just like the Samjhota Express killers and accomplice are roaming freely.

.
the residents in iOK are seething in anger for obvious reasons

unable to care for people it CLAIMS wildly to control, but increasingly unable to help them and meanwhile out of a false sense of "pride" - rejects international help including from Turk Kizilay (red crescent)

these hindu fanatical groups do a good job proving the point we make over and over

Off topic, case is open. The Hindu angle was probed for 5 yers - nothing came out. Remember that this was a case of international ramifications. In the end Purohit was a dead end(black ops), and Aseemanand's initial testimony was quashed. Besides Qasmani was implicated after Assemanand was cleared(not entirely yet). Both the UN and the US froze assets of LeT Qasmani.

If you wish to discuss this, start a new thread and tag me there. Any further disc. on this topic will be ignored. You may conclude as you wish to.

It's Ujjain, not the first time. And they know the individuals.

Then I have no ounce of sympathy for any of them. It's not that we are sending money to buy BMWs now are we? Just the basic necessities for human survival.

Plus - the guy in the picture looks more like a goon than a college student.

Let's see what the police and courts say.

NEW DELHI: Hardline Hindu nationalists went on the rampage at a university in central India over an aid appeal for victims of devastating floods in Indian-held Kashmir, the vice chancellor said Tuesday.

The mob of young men stormed the Vikram University campus in Ujjain city on Monday, breaking windows, throwing furniture and trying to smash ceiling fans with wooden sticks, footage aired on national television showed.

Jawaharlal Kaul said the attack occurred after the university issued an appeal to help any Kashmiri students affected by the floods that have claimed several hundred lives and devastated the region's main city of Srinagar.

“There was an appeal issued by us for helping Kashmiri boys who are studying here...there was an appeal by the state government as well,” the vice-chancellor told the NDTV network.

“[The attackers] said they were from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal,” said Kaul, referring to right-wing militant outfits linked to India's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party.

Hindu nationalist Prime Minister Narendra Modi stormed to power in May over his centre-left rivals, sparking fears among religious minorities of a rise of hardline Hindu grassroots groups in officially secular but Hindu-majority India.

Kaul said he had appealed through a local newspaper in Madhya Pradesh state for help to aid students whose families were thought caught in Kashmir's worst floods in a century.

“Particularly the landlords [of the students] were requested by me not to ask for rent for a couple of months until the situation is over,” Kaul said.

The mob stormed Kaul's office, demanding an explanation for wanting to help Kashmiri students, before the violence broke out, he said.

“In about 10-15 minutes they broke all the office furniture,” said Kaul who was taken to hospital after being shaken by the ordeal.

The Hindu hardliners were apparently angry that such appeals had not been issued for victims of past deadly floods elsewhere in India, including in Uttarakhand last year, the Press Trust of India news agency said.

Don't worry about some fringe elements in our midst. They will just make news while we silent majority will do what is right.
