Pakistan asks for support, multilateral approach in South Asia
NEW YORK: Pakistan Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar addressed the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly, presenting the message of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, saying that Pakistan believed in multilateralism, and promoting a world of peace, free from the scourge of war.
Khar said that Pakistan believed in an Afghan-led and Afghan-owned peace process. Though, the challenges Pakistan faces, it cannot face them alone.
She said that Pakistan had engaged its immediate neighbours in dialogue and hoped that these dialogues would continue without interruptions.
The foreign minister said that while Pakistan believed in mulitilateralism, it did not mean falling in line, or conforming but a world of harmony, tolerance, and respect for diversity
