Yeah you're right I think the south Indian brahmins are more uptight about their vegetarian diet.

Accept it that you have run out of arguments. :coffee:
Lolzz

naaah!
All fishes look alike....noohhh? :girl_wacko:Kidding!!
Serioulsy no idea what hilsa is?? King fish?? Ibrahimi??
:lol:
Fishy!!! Very fishy!! :P

that is the biggest argument. very valid one. bongs are non veggie except for that rare brahmin..rare here is not overstated. i instantly look down upon them... :p

. .
His Assamese sis. :D

Even I suspected that!! :D

@halupridol

I have no idea why guys here persuade me to be a non-vegetarian. :girl_wacko:
@nair has also been trying it for some time now.Lolz

But isnt it cool to be a vegetarian??
World over this trend has caught on but dont know why more and more Indians are turning into non vegetarians???

@Indischer
I heard long back brahmins used to eat non-veg. (Have I asked you this doubt earlier?? )
Misinformed men!!!
Lolzz
Why do you forget that vegetarians have a lower risk of dying from any cause compared to non-vegetarians.....more so in men.
I understand that some region like the coastal areas and places with extreme winters compel ppl living there to include non veg in their diet.
Also its a well known fact that human digestion system assimilates nutrients better from the plants.

@hinduguy
Its not about vegetarian food being superior to non veg. Veg food increases life expectancy is what most of the studies show.

I am not against non-vegetarians but to those who demand non-veg on daily basis should include more fibrous /vegetarian food in their diet.

All brahmins are not vegetarians, at least in Bengal I don't know any vegetarian brahmin, maybe some pujari brahmin may not eat non-veg. In fact we have the tradition of animal sacrifices (goats, buffaloes, etc.) to gods, especially to goddesses like Durga and Kali (note this point!! :D ), and the meat is distributed as prasad. :)

Vegetarianism is going against the nature, we are designed to be omnivorous, not vegetarians.

And those studies that show vegetarians are healthier and live longer were done by vegetarians, just like there are studies done by non-vegetarians that shows how bad vegetarianism can be for your health. :D I would go by what nature says, i.e. to be omnivorous.

Particularly fish have the highest amount of Omega 3, which is good for heart, and DHA helps in brain development.

How dare you trash my post on vegetarianism??? :pissed:

Btw there's a lot of misconception about omega 3 fatty acids.Soybean, canola, wheat germ and walnut all 've a decent amount of omega 3's but much higher levels of omega-6 fatty acids and this ratio of omega-3's to omega-6's is important.The recommended ratio of omega 6 to 3 is 4:1.Most diets contain way too many omega-6 fatty acids which are common in seed oil (like corn, canola and soybean), animal fat and processed foods. The goal is not to get as much omega-3 as possible, but to get enough to offset the amount of omega-6 in your diet.
Even the mustard seeds used in tarka has omega 3 FAs. So you see vegetarian food is complete in itself. :agree:

. . .
don't tell me you get hilsa in kerela ?

Eh? what? No.

I have eaten a lot of seafood. Haven't come across one I hate. Have eaten Hilsa before, but wasn't in Kerala.

No no no !! :close_tema: First, vegetarian foods provide Omega 3-ALA, and you can get Omega 3 - EPA & DHA from non-veg sources only, and EPA & DHA has distinct benefits that cannot be fulfilled by ALA, some veg sources have very high Omega 3, but not EPA & DHA. Further, Omega 6 is inflammatory, the ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 should be low, check the last link. :angel:

Hahah so much quintessential mallu. :D

I still miss duck roast, oyster and Crab meat fry from home.

Sure, it knocks a few years out of your life expectancy, but still really delicious.
