I do not believe that this decision was based on religious reasons, and the purported desire to keep the ummah together. It was based on realpolitik, and financial considerations.True , but we have lots people who believe in formulation of foreign policy on the basis of there believes, not on national interest.
It was a tough decision, and their are costs either way. But I think given Pakistan's current financial situation, IK had to go with KSA and hope that Mahathir and Erdogan would understand. The blame really lies with KSA.
