Human beings are composed of hardware (DNA and IQ genes) and software (analytical skills due to education).
Scientists say IQ is 50% nature and 50% nurture due to studies of identical twins.
In 1949 (at Taiwan's founding), Taiwan was not an industrialized country. Forty years later, Taiwan was clearly an industrialized country.
In 1978, China was not an industrialized country. Forty years later, mainland China is clearly an industrialized country.
The question is: WHY?
Why did industrialization occur within 40 years in both Taiwan and mainland China?
I think there are two parts to the answer.
Firstly, Han Chinese have an in-built high IQ. This is the hardware part. However, the Chinese IQ could not manifest itself due to foreign countries waging constant wars against China. The Chinese government was busy spending money to defend itself against foreign invasion and could not allocate funds for technology research and development.
Secondly, forty years of peace have proven to be sufficient for Han Chinese industrialization. This is the software part. Software needs 40 years to take hold. It happened in both Taiwan (Acer, Asus, TSMC, Mediatek, etc.) and mainland China (e.g. Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo, Haier, DJI, SANY, etc.).
Most undeveloped countries in the world had at least 40 years of peace (and usually much longer), but we have not seen industrialization.
We want to know WHY?
The average country IQ data suggests that a country's industrialization hinges on a HIGH average country IQ.
The HIGH AVERAGE COUNTRY IQ theory explains the real-world observation that Taiwan and China industrialized in the last 40 years, but almost all other countries (Brazil, Argentina, Iran, Nigeria, etc.) did not.
----------
Let's analyze how average IQ affects a country's industrialization.
Taiwan has an average IQ of 104. Let's assume a genius has an IQ 25 points higher than the average person. This means Taiwanese geniuses have an average IQ of 129.
An undeveloped country has an average IQ of 80. Let's add 25 points for an undeveloped country's genius. This will take him/her to an IQ of 105. This means an undeveloped country's genius is equivalent to an average citizen in Taiwan.
The undeveloped country cannot attain an IQ of 129. Thus, the barrier for industrialization looks almost insurmountable for an undeveloped country.
Taiwan province and HK SAR of CHINA .
Thanks for your time!
It is understood that Taiwan and HK are provinces of China. This thread is not a political discussion. It's a discussion about technology and average country IQ.
