The PDV retains the PAD interceptor's maneuvering gimbaled directional warhead that can rotate 360 degrees to explode towards the incoming missile in order to destroy. Because it is directional, the 30 kg interceptor warhead is able to generate an impact equivalent to a 150 kg omni-directional warhead.

thats because Indian BMD doesn't have KKV.KKV is used by USA for its GMD's midcourse interception.China also tried its hand on this field, though platform is unknown.Indian BMD is nowhere near GMD,which is aimed towards a missile of 3000-5000 km for now, while Midcourse Interception is aimed towards ICBMs armed with MIRVs.
Both
Can somebody explain this ??
According to this report both the missiles will be launched from ship . Looks like false reporting .
According to another report India to conduct complex interceptor missile test ,
target missile will be launched from ship near Paradip while the interceptor would take off from Wheeler Island .

what is the difference b/w SAM and this missile.

Agreed - even past PAD tests had the same config.
But I am guessing that since we lanuch the Dhanush from ships, we already have the capability to launch PAD/PDV from the sea. Does anyone if these missiles are canisterized?
What about the suppot infrastructure such as Huge swordfish Radar.
I am dessaponted with the speed of missile. It is just high supersonic.
How ever the good part is that it will carry a kill vehicle.
More the velocity, more will be the relative approach velocity between the missile and the interceptor, and hence faster processing power will be required to track the target and mid course path correction.
Hey @GR!FF!N Man, It has KKV. You do not seem to have read article properly. Missile will release KKV which will kill warhead.
Agreed - I don't think PDV has KKV. All the PAD tests till now had explosive warheads, and they wouldn't want to add to the challenge of exo-atmospheric interception by including KKV as well.are you sure that it's a Pure Kinetic Kill Vehicle ....?
because pure Kinetic Kill vehicle should not contain any explosive warhead ...
am I getting it wrong ???
