High-level reshuffle in the Army, new DG ISPR appointed

RAWALPINDI – The Pakistan Army on Thursday has carried out a major reshuffle at key positions, resulting in the promotions transfers of seven major generals. As a result, Major General Asif Ghafoor has been appointed as the new director general (DG) for Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), replacing Lt Gen Asim Bajwa.

Major General Asif Ghafoor is presently commanding a division in Swat.

The following have been promoted:

1. Major General Abdullah Dogar will now assume the position of Commandant PMA.
2. Major General Syed Adnan will now assume the position of GOC at Lahore.
3. Major General Fida Malik will now assume the position of DG Logistics at GHQ
4. Major General Zafarullah Khan will now assume the position of GOC at Panu Aqil
5. Major General Nadir Khan will now assume the position of DG Personnel Services and Provost Marshal (PS&PM) at GHQ
6. Major General Zafar Iqbal will now assume the position of GOC armour division at Gujranwala

The appointments come as the army is undergoing major reshuffling and promotions.

So the post of DG ISPR has been demoted from 3 star to 2 star. Reversal of decision of RS.

given the state of "free media" of pakistan, ISPR needs to be proactive, that was clear in RS era, so he elevated ispr to give them recognition and importance.

There is a punjabi saying "batoun say bachay nahe paida hotay". I think you might got my answer and this strategy is too old and out fashioned.
The paradigm shift has to be that national security be linked directly to the idea of democracy. Nothing strengthens Pakistan more than democracy and nothing weakens it quite like dictatorship.

A post which is only worth the rank of a Colonel or Brigadier at most, is being held by Major Generals and Lieutenant Generals.

Only the Pakistan Army need Generals to tweet and post their propaganda. It can be done by lower rank officers just as equally well.

You don't need to undertake combat and staff courses to run a twitter handle.

Democracy =/Nawaz Sharif and we cant defend someone just cuz he was elected

No I don't think so as when appointed Asim Bajwa was also a 2 star general.

I agree Asim Bajwa was doing great job but as for his career it was time to move-on ... I wish him luck ...
