Are pakistani dramas famous in bd?
Not as much as India's but there is a following.

Yes they are. Especially among middle and upper middle class households here. Although the cable operators have been working on a ban - the interested parties can usually stream these dramas through their smart TV's (Internet connection and YouTube) which are widely available locally.

Pakistani drama production values are far better than Indian low-class, formulaic, over-dramatized, Saas-Bahu garbage. The plot, story lines and technical quality are definitely a cut above Indian programming and suits our tastes far better. They are actually the same type of tele-dramas and serials that we have here air-ing on the local TV channels but in Urdu. Most Bangladeshis don't have issues understanding Hindi/Urdu.

I remember there was a nice drama a year ago about some rich kid that fell in love with a girl from a poor family with an older dad with failing health. Eventually the rich kid got temporarily disowned by the dad because of this and ended up working in a train station as a coolie (porter). Can't remember the name.

It is regrettably true that SHW's government and her RAW-sponsored cohorts are trying to turn the tide of our Islamic culture by banning Pakistani channels but this is a stupid smokescreen. Indians are trying to sell us their garbage products through their ad-bearing channels here. Pakistanis have no such intention.

And the root of our culture is Islamic. They can try RAW propaganda for thousands of years but can't turn us into Hindoos. No offense....
I don't understand how these dramas turn us into Hindus. I've never seen a Pakistani or Indian drama in my life. Do they have some sort of religious tone and symbolism to them?
Also, any recommendations for good Pakistani dramas? I mostly watch Korean ones.

Their general hatred for India on the part of many a bangladeshi on this forum, solely based on the fact that India is a Hindu-majority country, is clear for all to see. It even brings out the shittiest of comments (from the regular street-urchin types) on the quality of Indian programming versus the ultra-high quality programming from bonglodesh. The gall!

Shame on you.

Nice to meet you street urchin boy. Whoever cribs the name of Bangladesh falls into that category. You can get away with this only in these anti BD forums. Where Pakistanis openly call Bangladeshis Bastard and Indians regularly insults BD.

RAW will soon take care of this "High Court". By 2016, Shekhar Suman and Navjot Singh Sidhu will be the joint chief justices of Bangladesh.

Bechara-ra korbey ki?

Bhat khaitey hobey - na hobey na?

The Money is coming form RAW.....all on RAW payroll.

And that first guy - his unfortunate moniker is 'Chandal (Charal) Mahfuz'. No offense.

Some people don't like the way he looks I guess. :rolleyes1:

Also - you forgot to talk about Munni Saha - she is a de-facto RAW mouthpiece along with her spouse Pranab Saha (see red highlights above) sponsoring anti-Islamic propaganda in Bangladesh. She is the be-all and end-all at ATN and is the most important person at ATN on RAW payroll. ATN is a RAW-sponsored channel.

This is open secret here. The fact that we are letting this continue attests to our liberal press media environment.

There are certain principles at work here that Indian RAW has failed to address,

1. People here don't have a lot of respect at this time about Indian Hindu culture.

2. Bangladeshis may be polite about it but they all are very mindful about the machinations of Indian governmental interference in Bangladeshi affairs.

3. Instead of working on respecting Bangladeshi sovereignty - Indians continue to de-nigrate our achievements and freedom in every media outlet they can find.

4. Unless this is put in check - anti-India feeling in Bangladesh will grow.

5. Eventually this may result in boycott of third-rate Indian products and machinery which is unofficially a ten billion dollar market.

6. This may harden Bangladeshi stance against illegal Indians working in Bangladesh. ID cards are already being circulated to genuine Bangladeshi citizens. Next step is deporting Indians as they are found. That is another seven or eight Billion in lost remittance to Indian coffers.

7. Transit and riverine shipping permissions may also be withdrawn. Electricity import will also stop. Your Tripura Power station will have nowhere to sell its electricity.

8. No amount of RAW machination will prevent these events as they will be the popular will of the people here. Never in History has subjugating a population been successful, not in Afghanistan, not in Iraq, not In Syria, not anywhere. And forget the US - your country is India.

9. Being mostly occupied by 'Chhota log ka baccha chhota log' minions - your foreign affairs strategic planning office in Delhi don't know how to work on Bangladeshi 'hearts and minds'. Their 'Aukat' is Indian - rest is plain to see.

10. This is your future at this time in Bangladesh. No amount of arranging propaganda channels like ATN will prevent this. People here are aware of Bhartiya 'kutneeti' and tricks. Bangladesh is too big and too Muslim to be another Nepal, Sikkim or Bhutan.

Among a hundred names you found two Hindu names, and bingo...they are RAW agents! :P

Btw, in your previous post you didn't mention about these two evil RAW agents, you gave some other names who now don't seem to be working in either of the ATN Bangla or ATN News channels. :D

Are pakistani dramas famous in bd?

How can it be? RAW is controlling Bangladeshi TV channels. RAW is also working on to control Bangladeshi internet, Airtel is already there, so forget about reaching through youtube also! :P

Whatever is discussed in Bangladeshi section is not supposed to be logical, sensible or sane in any manner, this is the hallmark of Bangladeshi section for many years now, just check old threads or ask old members here. :-)

Consult @idune , he is a legend here, I just searched "RAW" under his posts, got 20 pages of threads instantly! :D

Zindagi Gulzar Hai seems to have done quite good in India and other countries, all the episodes are available on youtube.

1. The writer assumed that West Bengal’s Bengali-reading audience has been continuously shrinking under the pressures of English and Hindi because in Kolkata’s Oxford Bookstore he noted that the English-language translations of Rabindranath Tagore were prominent best sellers! Well, he need to be told that a typical Bengali reader would buy Bengali books from College Street, because they provide wider choice and better prices, not Oxford bookstore.

One doesn't need to inspect every bookstore in a community to determine the taste of the local readers... Of course College Street would be bigger in quantity but it would reflect the same preference of books by the readers as the Oxford bookstore...

2. Reading habits are on a decline because of so many other new age entirement options, not because of English or Hindi, and that's a global phenomenon.

This would be the last thing a Bengali would say... reading/literature is an indispensable part of Bengali culture. I have never seen a decline of reading habits because of other entertainment options in any society.

3. Bangladesh has higher population than West Bengal, surely they would have more Bengali readers than West Bengal, that doesn't prove what he is claiming.

This is not the point. The publishing houses of Kolkata heavily depends on the Bangladeshi market, this proves that the locales no more care about the Bengali literature. Even after being smaller than Bangladesh, West Bengal does have a large population of 100 million with a good literacy rate.

4. Bangladesh banned a reputed West Bengali magazine like Desh just because one writer mentioned "So called Bangladesh", now that's very silly!

Yeah... quite silly, perhaps it wouldn't matter if someone calls you a so called Indian?

It is as silly as one walking into a KFC restaurant and coming to the conclusion that Bengalis have stopped eating rice and daal.

No, it's a well known fact. Just see for yourself how much of your time TV channels and imternet consume everyday. It was not the case 20 years ago.

This only proves that Bangladesh has almost twice the Bengali speaking population compared to West Bengal, and naturally it is a bigger market for Bengali literature.

Yeah... quite silly, perhaps it wouldn't matter if someone calls you a so called Indian?

That wouldn't certainly justify a ban on the magazine!

It is as silly as one walking into a KFC restaurant and coming to the conclusion that Bengalis have stopped eating rice and daal.

The difference is that KFC doesn't sell rice and daal but there are Bengali books available in Oxford bookstore, isn't it?

And your reference for that "well known fact"? I'm not an avid reader but there are others who spent considerable amount of time in reading, many of my friends are from that group. There are all sorts of entertainment available in the US yet millions of books are sold there, why is that? Because there are people with different hobbies and choices and this is the case with every society.

You are still not getting the point. It's the dependence of Kolkata publishing houses on Bangladeshi market that the writer emphasized on which reflects the decline of Bengali literature in India. West Bengal's market of 100 million itself should be enough for them to sustain, then there are Bengalis in other states as well like Assam, Tripura, Orissa, Jharkhand etc.
That wouldn't certainly justify a ban on the magazine!

Well, for us, it certainly justifies...

KFC here do sell rice! But people primarily go there to have what KFC is best known for, same with Oxford bookstore.

Stop arguing for the sake of arguing. :)

It's not dependence, it's maximization of profit, more the merrier....basic principal of all businesses. Did 'Desh' became unsustainable after the ridiculous ban in Bangladesh?

Well, for us, it certainly justifies...

Apparently, eating and reading are not same...

And I stand by my earlier statement, if reading habit is really in decline then we wouldn't have seen the expansion of Boi Mela this year...

Good decision. Bengalis should stick to Tagore strongly, rather than the likes of Himesh Reshmiya or Pritams.

Himesh' last name is Reshammiya not Reshmiya.

Tagore is appreciated by Bangladeshis for his non-communal philosophies in this part of the world.

Which Indians are failing to follow - day by day.

But Indians do yourselves a favor and read some Tagore (for a change) prior to painting Tagore as a 'Dharmic' guy.

Bhai I think you are wasting your breath. It is well-known that West Bengalis have given up their intellectualism for cheap commercialism and Bombay garbage culture a long time ago...a society in decline already because of invasion of cheap 'dhoom-dharakka' tacky Bollywood dance moves and superficial 'culture' (it's more a disease rather than a culture).

Why will they read anymore? When you have 'Balle Balle' their is no need to read...
