What's new

High-altitude 'Killer' Missile next year.

even nuclear bomb will not have much effect in the ground if it is exploded above 100km from the earth surface...

But maybe the missile will be knocked out and than the nuke fall back on the earth and then explode.

So the explosion waits until it falls to earth...

Knocked down the missile does not necessarily trigger the explosion. But the best person to answer this would be @gambit. If he can do us the honor of explaining how an warhead is wired to detonate.

If this is suppose to be a secret, than the guy that is suppose to keep it secret didn't get the memo.

I'll leave it to India media to create an American killer if India creates a missile that can reach America.

Sorry , It was not secret ......... didn't you seen the test?

If you US school teach you some physics and if you know basic about ABM system then you didn't asking such stupid questions.....

No.

It does not matter if the explosive device is nuclear or non, there are conditions that must be met before the mechanisms that controls the detonation sequence will activate. Once those mechanisms are activated, there is no 'abort' possible. So for an air-air missile, for example, the proximity fusing system will take its cue from the sensor as to distance from target before the detonation mechanisms activate. I can shoot the missile to break apart in flight and it will just tumble out of control. It may have some kind of self destruct mechanism as a last ditch effort to try to damage the intended target, but that falls under a different design philosophy.

For a nuclear warhead...

Basic Principles of Staged Radiation Implosion ("Teller-Ulam Design")
All thermonuclear weapons existing in the world today appear to be based on a scheme usually called the "Teller-Ulam" design (after its inventors Stanislaw Ulan and Edward Teller), or "staged radiation implosion" for a physically descriptive designation. Other designs have been devised that use thermonuclear reactions to enhance weapon yield in various ways, but the term "hydrogen bomb" can be taken to be virtually synonymous with this scheme.

The gist of it is that the nuclear core is surrounded by a sphere of explosives that when detonate, compresses that nuclear core to initiate an uncontrolled nuclear chain reaction. If any part of that sphere is out of sync, there will be NO chain reaction. In other words, the sequence is that there must be an extremely precise implosion of a non-nuclear type before there can be an explosion of the nuclear type.

So if the warhead is intercepted on its descent and severely damaged, the odds of a nuclear detonation on ground impact is practically nil.

its already in the works and goes by the name of SURYA Surya missile - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia....it is a top secret black project of the govt since the 1990's and has not been acknowledged by the Indian govt. officially as our allies...especially in Europe and the western world would question the need for such a missile as most of our enemies are in our vicinity and are going to be fully covered by our Agni missile series....moreover we will be having the K series of SLBM's which can also target the US if need be.....also India is developing the Agni 6 which has a range of over 10,000 kms
