In the Gaza conflict last year, it is believed that between 100-150 idf soldiers were killed, but the official number from israel is that 70-80 were killed.
The Lebanese and Iranian reports are saying that some 17 idf rats were killed, including high ranking military commanders.
I tend to believe these reports instead of those coming out of israel. If israeli public knew the real number they would demand bloody revenge and for israel to retaliate, but the government want to avoid getting a beating (ala 2006) right before israeli elections.

Anyway the important thing is not how many was killed. The important thing is that israel decided to sit back and not answer the attack, so the deterrence have been reestablished.
I still think Iran is going to do an operation of its own later down the road.
