Hezbollah leader tells Israel to brace for retaliation over Qantar's death

The leader of Lebanon's Hezbollah group said on Sunday that Israel miscalculated by killing prominent militant Samir Qantar in Syria last week, saying that retaliation for his death was inevitable, whatever the consequences.

Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, speaking in a ceremony to mark a week since Qantar's death in a strike in a residential quarter of Damascus, said Israelis should brace themselves for a response either inside or outside Israel.

"The Israelis should be justifiably worried... They should be worried along the border, inside (Israel) and outside," he said.

"The response is coming no matter what ... We cannot forgive the shedding of our mujahideen blood by the Zionists ... anywhere in the world," he said. Israel has welcomed Qantar's death, but has not confirmed it carried out the air strike that killed him.

Israeli Defence Minister Moshe Yaalon said on Saturday Israel took seriously a possible retaliation for Qantar's killing and accused Iran, Hezbollah's backer, of trying to open "a terrorist front on the Golan Heights".

Yaalon said Hezbollah should be mindful of the 2006 Lebanon war, when Israel responded to a spate of cross-border attacks by the militant group with a large-scale ground, air and sea offensive.

It's a matter of when, not if, it may come tomorrow, it may come in a year, so Israeli soldiers will remain in panic mode for the time being, expecting any minute to be hit by something. That's even worse than the retaliation itself.

There will be a retaliation, Israel will fire back some mortars and it will be over (just like above) and they may kill some peacekeepers again. If Israel decides to escalate things more than this, it will be an all out war.

He is man of his words but I believe the rest of his allies pushing him against retaliation. Out of the 'axis of resistance', Hezbollah is the only party that actually is more fixated around Israel and not towards regional agenda. Lately that's changing a little but Nasrallah realizes focusing on KSA is not popular and doesn't bring benefit.

How 'high value'? Like UN peace keeper? That's the retaliation Israel gave last time. They killed poor Spanish peacekeeper and did not target anything for Hezbollah. They just shelled PFLP outposts.

Nasrallah did not retaliate terrorist Mughniyeh killing yet from 10 years ago, despite many many promises.

Kuntar killing is especially painful for hezbies since he was their ONLY achievement in 2006 war. So many sacrificed their lives to get him out of comfort Israeli jail and now he is fertilizer.

Kuntar broke into a civilian house. He took family father and his little child a hostage. This is undisputed fact making him a terrorist. Now even if his version is true he is still responsible for death, since he took a child a hostage.

121 including 2 soldiers whos bodies were hijacked. Hezbollah started a war, lost over 500 its men, suffered billions of loses and all they achieved is 2 soldier bodies. Later they traded bodies for Kuntar. Now Kuntar is gone what did they achieve? What for so many hezbies died for? How many Iranians lost jobs and went to poverty in order to pay Kuntar release?
