From these two pics it seems like both Arihant and Follow On Arihant are two different submarine projects and Indian navy is going to induct approx. 4 Arihant Class and 7-9 Follow On Arihant Class...But this pic below

This pic shows that Indian navy is going to induct only 4 submarines and Arihant and Follow On Arihant are same projects....o_O... How...? Please explain in full details....:-)...Thanks in Advance.....:-)

.
I strongly believe the number is six,We don't need more than six SSBNs.
But,IN has said that INS Arihant is a TD,So there is a possibility of +6.
From what we know, 2-3 Arihant class + 3-4 Follow on Arihant class = 6-7 ?

don't go with wiki figures, they are not authentic, the numbers reported in indian media is 5 or 6 ssbn and 6 ssn's the nuclear attack subs....

. .
IN will have four Arihant class SSBN submarines and after that four more larger and more deadlier SSBN's and 6 nuclear powere SSN's.

"Will" can be a long time. How soon do you think India will be able to field weaponry you stated above?

i guess there will be a follow on arihant class of 2 ships, and another class of 6 nuclear attack subs.

True....:(.....It will take many years for building these submarines mam.....:-)

.
Arihant class will end at 3 Boats
ie
INS Arihant
INS Arhidaman
INS Arijit

After first 3, India will move in to a new design which will be much Larger at 8000 Ton
This design will form the Basis of both NEXT GEN SSN and SSBN

Years before you put up your chinese flags.

@ topic, the Arihant class ends with three boats. Next boats will be a batch of 4, and the follow on will be 6. This is not finalised yet because there is dependency on the learnings from Arihant that is yet to go fully operational. Unless a TD project is fully realised and studied, your future plans will remain fluid.

Do more,talk less。

When will our Indian friends learn?
Sorry Sir...You are right....:-)

Don't you want to implement knowledge learned from each batch into a larger newer batch?

Kind of like how Shivalik is 3, the follow on is 7, Kolkata class is 3, follow on is 4, Kamorta is 4, follow on likely 8.

Of course given the cost and complexity, the increment will be closer to Kolkatta class.

Makes sense? Would you do it any differently?
