Hey fellow NY'er Yeah currently I am in my 2nd year in college studying Public Admin/Pre Law but I plan to switch to Business Admin I am 20 years old at the moment so I dont really have that much savings however I started working in Real Estate about a couple weeks back to get a side income.My Father sends Remits when needed.I am all for the PTI and hope things go well but then again I am skeptical of democracy working out but I am Hopeful for Imran Khan
You got to be careful when considering switching into business administration and real estate. MBA and realtors are every where in New York. Check out the BLS.gov website (Bureau of Labor Statistics), and think about the STEM fields on there you would be willing to do. It doesn't have to be a "Dream Job" it just has to be something you can do well and you would feel fine doing.
As for democracy, well we are all skeptical of the politicians, but we have to look at the institutions being build and if people accept the policies implemented from these institutions. In Pakistan the people interact with the government in three major places; Police, Education, and Healthcare. Watch these over the next five years and judge hat comes of it in 2023. In the mean time, like I said; get a good education, get a good job and build up a good family. Save where you can, and be ready if in 5, 10, 15 years you are that expert the nation needs. When called upon be ready to serve, but until then you got to be the best professional you can become. Showing up now at age 20, currently in school, to be honest, you will be a burden on the government and your family in Pakistan.
Remember the example of A.Q. Khan. He earned a doctorate in Metallurgy, worked at the most cutting edge companies in his field, and was able to fluently read and write Urdu, English, German, and Dutch. Even after this he was turned down by Karachi Steel Mills if i'm not mistaken. Even in today's Pakistan, outside of the special program, where could such an expert find a job. Hopefully the government seeds private enterprises to draw in Overseas Pakistanis with expertise to build up these industries. We will have to wait and see.
