People need to understand that the police force is state affair and as such managed by the individual state governments.

Forget equipment , there need to be a fundamental change in the structure of the IPS.

Our dated colonial police force needs to be modernised to a new one cop per block police force.

All our forces need to have a better hand radio's and and our special weapons forces need to have faster deployment.

Priorities for our police

*more power to the Judiciary
*reform if the structure of the IPS
*New internal affairs watchdog
*CBI needs to be expanded and be held accountable only to the judiciary
* training and facilities
* equipment
*then we can worry about helicopters or UAV's

Those Patrol cars were gifted to the chennai police force by Hyundai. Everything in the car including the comm kits, sirens and the cams were installed by hyundai free of cost.
TN gov. hasn't spent a single penny on those cars and for u r information chennai police still operate the lousy jeeps

Around 200 cars were given to chennai Police for the land the Hundai acquired from Tamilnadu Govt. Those are not gifts. I dont and cant find those lousy Jeeps u said with the Chennai Police.

NSG for example ha ready access to them.

It's not as if our states have no Heli , what so ever.

What is being discussed here is Helicopter per city and district. Something that many operator have in their inventory.

So States have access to a number of Heli's.

Most major cities have IAF airbases within spitting distance
For eg Delhi has 3 airbases within 2 minutes of flying distances from the capital , apart from those within the city limits

Buddy let me correct You, Pakistan Police is atleast armed with AK-47's, our Police is Armed with WW2 Rifles.... Well But In Chennai and few Other parts Its INSAS rifle....

But Again if you are talking About Force One Commando team, They are not well Equipped Man.... Its still under process...

Police is being trained in anti terrorist ops by army n ssg being provided with new APCs,snipers etc

Besides ELITE FORCE(commandoes) another unit is being raised on the side lines of SWAT.

Also our polices main weapons are MP-5,G3A3,SMGs.

That's nice dude, but there's India other than Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Banagalore and Hyderabad. The rest of India is still relying on lathis, 60s' 6 shooter pistols, pot-bellied policemen, Lee Enfield 303s, Bullet motorcycles, and oooolddd Jeep.

We need development in all other cities and states other than the ones I mentioned above. Forget helicopters for now, I think we need:

1) Better bulletproof armor along the SWAT's capabilities.

2) A proper camo uniform for the police rather than the colonial khaki.

3) Latest fully automatic assault rifles like MINSAS, KALANTAK and submachine guns like MSMCs made of carbon and other polymer composites rather than the 3-shooter wooden handled INSAS that's been the latest GOI has provided that too not for every police officer.

4) Steel batons instead of bamboo lathis and tazers, pepper spray etc

5) Latest semi-auto hand guns like Desert Eagles and Barrettas.

6) A dedicated assault team similar to Force One for EVERY state (training should be done by Army instructors, SAS from UK or S-13 from israel preferably).

7) Stringent fitness programs that encourage paunchy havaldars to build muscles and stay fit.

8) A strong civil defense intelligence (unlike the lethargic, corrupt, inefficient and politically loose-moralled CBI) that works in coordination with the national intelligence.

Once ALL this has been solved, we can think of helos.

1. first need to b replaced Thier KHAKI uniforms.... mere luk f it jst spoils ur mood... a totally ineffective appearance at first.
2. Replace thier Tank like Single Pack Tummies with Danda(army style) Parade decipline.
3. Thier Lathi (Long Wood Stick) Weapons to some effective means to follow thier duty.
4. And Top of all thier Liability towards the Work n Nation.

Initiatives my foot! Someone should visit the dingy police stations outside metros and see the "initiative" that's been taken. If the government wants, it can easily replace all the old gear in the entire country in 3 years MAX.

are bhai log....stop daydreaming...our leader prefer to build Rs.2000 crore park, Rs.500 crore on own security, Rs.1000 crore to organize party meeting but they can't spend Rs. 100 crore for police modernization for common man. I listen our police constable get only Rs.8000 per month($2100 per year)...is it right ? i think low salary only increase corruption....
