Musharraf will have three years to campaign for the elections. Three years is a life-time in Pakistani Standard time. He is an unpopular leader today, but this same nation has voted in Zardari after ridiculing him as Mr 10%. They've voted for Nawaz Sharif after distributing sweets when he was deposed.

First of all, I dont know how your consistent labeling of me an Islamist or jamaati and whatnot is gonna help you with your argument, sir. You need to put your hatred for Islamists aside before discussing these issues.

Secondly, I am sure you're not even aware of the roots of the term "Islamists" which comes from "Islamism" that traces back to the Orientalists who wrote and conspired against the Muslims using our scriptures during British Imperialism. Any muslim that stood in their way was deemed an "Islamist" so to speak.

Terrorism is a nefarious crime and I believe in the saying "No terrorist is a good terrorist". Good riddance that they're getting killed or captured.

HOWEVER, terrorism is STILL a *crime* and should be punishable by either death or whatever the law of the land states. According to the Gen. Athar Abbas, most members of TTP at the mid-lower level are in fact local Swatis or Tribals. So, In effect they're citizens of Pakistan. And you simply cannot discount their citizenship even though if they raise up arms against the state and commit heinous crimes against humanity.


On a side note, Musharaff was a far smarter man than Zardari because he understood the consequences of the war on the local population, national economy and Pakistan's reputation on the world as a destablized zone. He captured terrorists across the country without imposing a war that displaced millions.

I dont think you have any understanding of how law actually works. A Citizen is a citizen is a CITIZEN no matter what crime he/she commits he should be punished in the same land where the crime is committed according to the law, according to your constitution. Whether that punishment sends him to the grave or behind bars for life, he HAS to be punished to maintain justice and peace.

But why must you punish millions of other innocents for the crimes of a few? Pray tell me which law recommends this practice? Is the pay cheque from the white house really worth that much?

I will defend myself in Pakistani court: Musharraf

LAHORE: Former president Pervez Musharraf on Wednesday said he would defend himself in Pakistani courts and his lawyers were reviewing the detailed verdict of the Supreme Court regarding his imposition of emergency rule on November 3, 2007, a private TV channel reported.

According to the channel, the former president said he was ready to face all charges levelled against him in court, as he commented on the Supreme Court terming his November 3, 2007 actions unconstitutional and unpardonable.

Also, former Pakistan Cricket Board chairman and close Musharraf confidant Dr Nasim Ashraf told the channel that Musharraf had decided to defend himself if a case was registered against him.

Ashraf President Asif Ali Zardari had not met Musharraf, either in New York or Washington.

He said US lawmakers had warmly welcomed Musharraf during his visit to the US Congress.

Ashraf said, the US lawmakers discussed several issues, including the Afghan situation, with Musharraf during their meetings. He said Musharraf had also advised US leaders not to interfere in Pakistan’s internal matters.

In my opinion he is a used cartridge and not worth mentioning anything. People not living in Pakistan can talk and say all they like but they are very far away for the realities on the ground. If Mr Musharraf was to contest the election for the local councils he will still loose untill that constituence was to be of the so called educated forward looking and thinking self proclaimed moderates that have brought nothing but bloodshed by offering innocent people as kosher meat for the West.
