Hazara province resolution: ‘PTI did its part, ball now in PML-N’s court’


Citing the constitutional validity of the Hazara province resolution due to its majority vote in the province, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) provincial president Azam Khan Swati has asked the prime minister to ensure that the legislation is passed in the National Assembly (NA) and Senate.

Speaking at a news conference at the Mansehra Press Club on Wednesday, Swati said his party had fulfilled its promise to the Hazara people after the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Assembly had passed the resolution for a separate Hazara province with a two-thirds majority.

The ball was now in the court of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership, he said, adding that the centre had to show that it was serious about delivering PML-N’s promise of a separate province during 2013’s general elections. Swati said the Hazara province resolution was constitutionally valid, having a majority with only four opposing votes and will be sent to the NA for further process.

“Those terming the resolution flawed are going against the wishes of the people of this area,” he said, brushing aside the question of whether Hazara was being carved out based on linguistic communities rather than administrative. He expressed his party’s support for the people of Hazara by announcing plans to observe the death anniversary of those killed over protests for the Hazara movement on April 12, 2010.

PTI will rally across the division and arrange a protest in Abbottabad to remember those who sacrificed their lives for the cause of a separate Hazara province, he said.

If Pmln decides to do this and gets resolution passed in NA, then it will be great. After that they Pmln should also pass seraiki province resolution in Punjab assembly as well and make that a province too. This will kick off the province making drive, which is good for the countrys better administration and power transfer to as much people of those respective regions as possible. This can also pave way for administrative units in the future and help in development of deprived regions. FATA and GB should be provinces as well.

Well done PTI... I recall a recent statement from Hamza Prince Shahbaz Al-Raiwindwi that the demand for separate province of south Punjab has been buried already... this speaks volumes about PMLN's sincerity about new provinces. They are running away from Local Body Elections lest the power should go from their freakin corrupt hands.. the question about new province is a far cry insofar as PMLN is concerned..

You know what more provinces in Pakistan will do?
it will make more Chief Ministers, more governors, more SARKARI LOG, More protocols and much much more expenses, all from our pocket!!!

Just in quest to fill there own coffers then will split the country into smaller administrative bodies and disintegrate the system. First bring down the expenses of already existing Province bodies so when we add new ones (which actually is very good in a perfect world) the expense is not increased and the load on National reserves in not increased!

They will never make Saraiki a province. Why would in the 7 hell would they do that? Y Then there will not be enough seats in Punjab to make a government, singlehandedly.

We will not let Punjab be devided, any other province is free to do what ever they want.

They will never make Saraiki a province. Why would in the 7 hell would they do that? Y Then there will not be enough seats in Punjab to make a government, singlehandedly.

More provinces are demanded to feed more mouths of political elites in those areas with public money. Punjab rejected PPP who wanted to divide it. Same PPP in return can't even let small part of Sindh, Karachi to be separate province.

Never before N won so many seats in Punjab, all thanks to South Punjab rejecting PPP. Anyway PPP is hypocrate party, devide Punjab but not Sindh. At least PTI is consistant.

Sind is small as compared to Punjab.. around 10 Caror people dwell in Punjab and imagine if someone has to come all the way from Bahawalpur to lahore to attend a hearing in high court.. how difficult it is for the poor...
