Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed - Nishan-i-Haider - Pakistan Army

NLI rightly deserves it's position in the PA. Apart from being fiercely patriotic, they surely are a hardy bunch.

As a Fauj (military) historian
Is that a particular field ?
As a Fauj (military) historian, I believe Kargil war was a debacle for Pakistan army. Even though my heart and my soul will continue saying salaam to all the shaheeds and ghazis of Pakistan wars including the one in Kargil.

Here is the reason why I say it was a debacle.
Time and again our strategists fail to take into account Bharati air force and the sheer numbers of troops they can deploy against Pakistan.

In Kargil too, Bharati army would not have taken back many of the peaks had it not been for the precision (laser guided) high altitude bombing by Bharrati airforce.

Unfortunately Pakistani airfoce had no answer.
And thus we lost.

Mind you, that even if Bharati airfoce had failed, the next trump card for Bharat has always been to amass troops on Pakistan's soft underbelly.

So from pure military strategy, Kargil should not have been allowed.

I'll end my post by saying to Lalak Jaan Shaheed and countless other martyrs (with tears flowing down my eyes:

Aiay Rahe haq kay Shaheedo, tumeh watan ki hawain salaam kehti hain

Thanks for the share and the goosebumps . Aiay Rahe haq kay Shaheedo, tumeh watan ki hawain salaam kehti hain .

Great son of the soil ! :pakistan:

@Icarus - Can you please make sense of Kargil for me ?

What happened ?

Why it happened ?

What did we gain from it ?

What did we loose from it ?

I stand and salute a true son of the soil. It is men like Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed who hold this country togather. May his family be blessed and I hope our country looks after them.

This is exactly why I have no time for the Indian's here. This soldier gave his life, least I can do stand by him.

i don't agree with most of the things in this article, but i found this one most unacceptable thing.
once indian force captured the tiger hill, no pakistani force was able to retake it. not even for a second. the sending of commandos to retrieve the body of Lalak Jan and those commandos just took it form the place indian forces occupying(tiger gill) is just a myth. the capturing for tiger hill was the most daring attempts of indian forces, and fighting enemy at the elevated position and the enemy was in a well fortified potions cause more casualties to Indian forces. but once retakes indian forces never lose any land even for temporarily so that Pakistan forces can retakes bodes of the fallen soldiers.
I beg to differ on this
Near Tiger Hill, Point 5353 still Pak-occupied - Indian Express
Near Tiger Hill, Point 5353 still Pak-occupied

.

it is not tiger hill.. it is NEAR tiger hill... don't think that tiger hill is still under pak occupation. point 5353 is still under pak occupation is ony because of the political failure. then PM vajpayee orderd army to stop the operation as pakistan agreed to withdraw the force, but pakistan didn't withdraw the force form point 5353 and due the celebration of kargill victory political leadership ignors about the point 5353. that is the only reason Pakistan still occupy that hill.

It's Bharatiya. Not bharti. As a respected member of pdf I assume you wrote it inadvertently not purposefully.

Difference in dialect bhai jaan. Robert vs. Bob.

No offense.

Those who know me on this forum know I am not making fun of the name.

The way Northern Light Infantry performed for Pakistan is a testimony of the love Northern Pakistanis have for the nation. If I'm not wrong after their brilliant performance the NLI were made part of Pak Army officially?

Yes

NLI created havoc among the TTP. TTP would launch an ambush, attack and than retreat. NLI Soldiers would track them on foot, and than go attack them in their safe houses. They would gauge out the eyes of the TTP Snipers and than set them free. TTP Pigs were dead scared of NLI soldiers.

What happened ?

We took strategically important heights using the winter withdrawal to our advantage.

Why it happened ?

The heights overlooked a corp HQ and a major road link.

What did we gain from it ?

Some important heights, though the withdrawal cost us a lot of unnecessary lives.

What did we loose from it ?

A lot of fine men.
