I am writing my IELTS exams on 1st August. Do any of you guys have any tips? i would appreciate your responses.

.
Yes I have, my score was 6.5 overall and cleared it in first attempt . I found Listening and Writing easy as you have enough time to put the text on the paper.

Reading is bit tricky tho , you need to lean the Skimming , Sketching skills , time management is the key there, I had trouble coping with the time in Reading section . Just dont be nervous in the Speaking part, be confident and keep your nerves in front of the person and you'll be fine.

I highly recommend you to look out for IELTS related videos on Youtube on every section (Speaking,Reading,Writing,Listening etc.) , they are very helpful .

Thanks...any tips on writing? I did all the four tests from Official guide and all the four test from Barron's IELTS. Do you think I need to read anything else. I am also writing TOEFL and GRE. Have you wrote them?

I had an 8.5 overall. Reading 9, Listening 9, Speaking 8, Writing 7.5.

Tips?

Reading and Listening are practically comprehension tests. Be relaxed and candid, listen/read the story and respond to the questions.

Writing demands a carefully crafted paragraph on the given topic which demonstrates both command of the language and the ability to translate thought into coherent text with good grammar and decent vocab. Accordingly, it is imperative that you have a pre-composed paragraph at hand, rife with good college-grade vocab which you can tailor to the topic in the question-paper. There is no way to conceive and write a demanding paragraph in the time-given. For passing, perhaps yes, but for a good grade the paragraph has to be written at home. Alternatively if you're pressed for time, make a list of the vocabulary which you intend to use and try to work it in there. The SAT vocab list is an excellent reference.

Speaking comes down to how good your spoken English is and there is very little in the way of help which I can offer you. If you're lucky the examiner might be a female and you can try to win her over by being charming. That's what I did. Of the 4 tests, I scored the second lowest in it. Lol.

Good luck.

I am extremely sorry for coming at you like this but reading the title, my recommendation, do not get your hopes too high for the results. :P

No I have not given those.

Can I ask what score are you intending to achieve? and in writing part just be precise and to the point, be careful with the grammatical and spelling mistakes as these are the ones which come under notice the most.

I can give u a very important tip related to the Listening section (which will definitely benefit you), Just remember to get attentive enough to be able to handle the 'Catch' in some sentences, like the answer wouldn't always be what you think it is at first instance, Remember to listen the words carefully till the end and make a understanding of the situation in ur mind and note the key words along in ur question paper then write it down later on on the answer sheet when they'll give u the time .

I hope you do well, cheers !
