Hate crimes against Muslims in western countries

Fine.

I am a minority in America, and I have fair treatment in America. My teachers treat me no different from any other. My guidance counselor helps me get into the best college that I can get into, like any other. We have equality here.
Then why did a hate crime happen? Does all that above guarantee that no hate crime would ever happen against you, ever?

.
r u a muslim???

No, but I have friends from Pakistan, Sudan, Afghanistan, etc that are.

Does all that above guarantee that no hate crime would ever happen against you, ever?

No it does not, but I will not hate the whole group because of some bad apples. Im proud of this nation, I know Pakistanis who own like 5 bars and making plenty of money. My family to is also an example of whats possible in America. We are loyal to this nation!

Even if some hate crime happened to me or someone in my family I would still not hate this country.

Ah I see, so random acts of violence, injustice, racism and cruelty are not indicative of the entire country in general!

These things are policed well.

I NEVER had any hate crime happened to me or my family. Some of my family have been here for 20-40 years. Yes, some got mugged, but thats not a hate crime and you live in New York City it will happened.

You need to know the every day people man. I grow up with whites, Blacks, Spanish, etc sense kindergarten, and we never looked at each other differently because of our differences, and I know these friends to this day! I dont know about some places in the south or mid-west, but where people are mixing we learn to be tolerate one another.

I can give you examples of "problems", but these are small in comparison to the happiness and opportunity America gives us. We have equal opportunity here, thats what matters. Indian-Americans wouldn't be the richest ethic group here if there wasnt no tolerance.

Attacks against muslims,attacks against Indians.
I don't understand that when will people realize that the homeland is where you get peace.
You will always live a life of a 3rd class citizen in developed countries, specially if you are from South Asia.
There is racism against Chinese in the developed world as well.

You dont have a clue.

*Home Sweet Home*

Besides that, living and serving in your nation is another good deed.

You would have a point if the man wasn't going to be prosecuted and/or the woman was thrown into jail for her beliefs, but all intents point to prosecution of the man. How can this act be indicative of the society when the society is punishing the perpetrator?

I've spent several months in the US vacationing multiple times, the people were really nice, nicer than they are here in Dubai, every other person stops to say hello to you, random people, totally doesn't happen here.

I got a totally different tune for TSA officers at airports - that random profiling, I'm always picked in - what is that, borderline hate crime I guess.

Cases like Aafia Siddiqui don't help shape my opinion about an American.

Well can't speak for TS, but generally people come on forums with a world view and have the tendency to apply the exceptions as the norm and add that to their world view.

IMO the only truth that you can seek is, that you can see whatever you want to see - the wold is just that diverse.

Exactly. An excellent post.

The news posted here are exactly that, exceptions, and not the norm.

I see... I hope that really does go both ways in understanding that the moral fabric of the country is held together by the people who choose not to commit crimes than the ones that do.

I've honestly never had a hate crime against me or anyone I know. However you do get the usual case of sh1t talkers who ignorantly judge Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Arabs, Asians, Hispanics, African Americans, Fat people, deaf people, homosexuals and just about anyone that's different. The human mentality is just f'd up in general. However, like mr Guli said that you're better in your own nation than anywhere else, I'm gonna have to somewhat agree on that. As where I'm from S Asians are comfortable with each other than any other race or people, as we do share some obvious similarities and history, same goes for different ethnicities such as other Asians, African Americans, or hispanics (which may not always be the case)

I've never really been interested in India in general even though i've visited a couple of times. But ever since the Mumbai Attacks, and knowing more of Indian culture and it's influence and heritage, I've never been more proud.
To make the story short, knowledge is key to be able to understand not only what's written in books, but from social interaction and experiences.

There are hate crimes by some ignorant students to my Sikh friend I will tell u that much..

Sikhs have it the worst here... Turban + beard + a Ignorant F' head = a mess.....................

I have to agree with that. Almost everyone I know has had a bad experience with airport security. And some of them were really bad. One pregnant woman kept in detention for three hours even though she and her husband had a valid green card. Once the supervisor showed up and looked at their documents, they were released within five minutes.

Airport security has become a license for racists and bigots to indulge themselves.

That's nothing, something about my khatarnaak looks (no mullah beard, just a frenchie) that always earns me 6 hours with a blonde highschool drop out.

Lol once during the usual questioning I said I'm here on my cousin's wedding and she's like "This is not a good reason, give me a better reason why you've come here?" I'm like wtf? Better than the truth? Once I said its a family reunion on Eid, so getting together, and she's like "What the heck is Eid?" I mean seriously? You work at JFK dealing with Muslims day in and out, and you don't know what Eid is?

And you can't show that you're ticked off, you HAVE to always have a smile or else you know TSA officer needs any excuse to hang out a Muslim. The worst airport is JFK. I can say this with utmost confidence, look towards the right end of where the immigration counters are, they are filled with Muslims of all shapes and sizes, looking totally confused like you don't know whats about to happen to them.

I wrote to them once, that since you freakin National Security depends on these guys, its high time you started hiring properly trained and college graduates to this position and not bring in just about anybody.

I think if there was any state level hate crime going on in America - its at the welcoming door - The TSA staff all will be found guilty, easy.

I sympathize with the Sikhs, only problem is they don't fight hate crimes, they focus more upon reminding the world that "Hey hey we're not Muslims". I mean way ta go at showing some solidarity to your fellow wronged people.

By comparison the black community is so much more supportive of Muslims and they would readily jump in to save a Muslim for these situations whenever given the chance to.

Hello, where in America did you go too? Because your experiences can be much different then mine depending on what part of America you went too.

The racial profiling a lot of times is done also by black people here too. The hate crime that happened to my Sikh friend was done by some ignorant Afro-Americans.

The nicest people you will meet are Africans from Africa, have you met?

not talking abt america, go and try to live in australia, its becoming hell for indians there..

I dont really care about Australia anyways.
