I refer you to check the situation of iran when khatami came in power. The situation was terrible and almost all europian embassies were gone and west was close to decide of attack to iran.

Ahmadinejad is as same as what he was 8 years ago. nothing changed. his behave, his plan for economy were same during all these years. 4 years ago lots of people warned about him. but khamenei supported him and didn't care to the Consequences of Ahmadinejad actions.why? because he is a uneducated man who doesn't know anything about policy and responsibility about people and country. and now at the end of Ahmadinejad presidency, he is The bad guy of story to put all failures on his shoulder.
