Today he's up against Gilbert Bactora of Mauritius, if he wins he'll proceed on to fighting with the British team in which he wasn't chosen and left out for the Olympics.

Congrats.

But you know each one must fight an India either in Semi Final or final. This is first time Indian wrestler has done something here. Hopefully we could see haroon v/s some indian fight in the finals :)

I think the first time Amir Khan shot to fame was at an England vs India final and people made it into an Pakistan vs India final.

I'm looking forward to Haroon's fight with Tommy Stubbs, which might happen over the weekend only if he wins today against Mauritius. Apparently English media is giving him a lot of flak for playing for Pakistan pretty hypocritical since they sidelined him for the boxing team in the first place.

Khan in quarterfinals - SuperSport - Boxing

Haroon Khan, younger brother of WBA light-welterweight champion Amir, has reached the last eight at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

Competing in the flyweight division, Khan beat Gilbert Bactora of Mauritius on Thursday.

The 19-year-old British-born fighter, who chose to represent Pakistan after being overlooked by the English selectors, will now fight Andrew Selby of Wales.

"He was a bit awkward," said Khan, who is listed as Haroon Iqbal, after his points win.

"He was stronger. As soon as the bell rang, I knew there would be a tough fight. It is getting harder the closer I get to a medal, which is what I want."

Selby, who got the better of England's Tommy Stubbs, said he was prepared for Khan's challenge in the next round. "I prefer fighting him because he comes forward and rushes you, so I can pick him off," said Selby.

I hope he wins against Selbby. It will be a major confidence booster for him.

It will also make the English look like fools for rejecting him in the first place. A very strange decision.

Let's hope their loss is our gain.
Well the English are gunning more for his blood than he for theirs.

Selby and Stubbs have already declared that Selby will take away the gold now, because Haroon and everybody else will lose easily.

Even the Indian boxers are progressing ahead quite well. That guy Amandeep Singh is to watch out for.

Yay, he beat Selby! Wonder what the English have to say about that! :pakistan:

Haroon khan has made it to the semis, thus assuring a medal for Pakistan. He beat a welshman and thus proved the UK selectors wrong.

Interestingly, he meets India's Suranjoy Singh in the semis. That would be a nice match to watch.

Amazinnnng! UK selectors must be regretting every moment of it!

Not to dampen your spirits, but you really think so? They have like 24 gold medals already. And given that Pakistan was his second choice, he might represent England in the future if given the opportunity.

Anyways, good luck to the lad.
