Happy Shab-e-Baraat

Happy shab-e-baraat or laylatul bara'ah (correct me if I used the wrong words) to all the Muslims.

. . .
Its a night of forgiveness and blessing. What I hate is the custom of firing crackers. Its such a nuisance. Perhaps its a bad tradition that we have carried on pre-partition.

. .
Happy shab-e-barat to everyone, have faith on the Almighty Allah.
Gonna enjoy roti-halwa,sondesh,barfi....sweets are everywhere.
Miss the nights of fireworks....

.
indeed its a beautiful night to sit down and pray to ALLAH for forgiveness

Can anyone when explain Shab-e-Baraat???
From the talk of food and fireworks, seems a bit like Diwali to me......................
Diwali - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Islam some days are given importance over others. Shab-e-Barat is one such day (to my knowledge only subcontinental Muslims observe this night and its importance is not substantiated by 'practice of the Prophet' and of course not by Quran). Anyway it's not a festival and is supposed to be spent on prayer.

Btw, 'shab' means night in Persian and 'baraat' means destiny. So, shab-e-baraat is believed to be a night when your destiny is written (to be precise what would happen to you over the year). This is the popular belief.
