"Monday marks the beginning of the new lunar year in China, so Chinese there and around the globe are celebrating this weekend. It is considered the most important holiday in China, a combination of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day, where families try their best to meet and share the wealth of the past and coming year."

china is also getting a new president: xi jinping!

Elected by a rubber stamp congress.

On a brighter note: Happy Chinese New Year, even though your own history books have discarded them in favor of the Sol calender! A reminder of the irony of Chinese Westernization!

we surely should use international standard calender otherwise it will cause big confusion, but China New Year is forever our undisputed biggest day in a year.

wait what, our history books discarded Chinese New Years? Is that why there's a 1 day break for Western New Years yet a 7 day one for the Chinese New Years (5 weeks for students)?
