Happy Independence Day Bangladeshis!

talk with Nepalese people, they hate india due to unnecessary indian involvement in their internal matter.

Depends who you ask. If you ask a Maoist rebel or anyone who sympathizes with them, then he/she would agree with you. Hard to say how much support Maoists in Nepal have, but I wouldn't be surprised if many do.

I do not think you have ever met a Nepali, communist or what. Please do not make general comments on a matter that you do not really know. By reading your post, it seems you have already taken a survey on the matter among the Nepalis and then you are making a report.

Wish there was a survey of Nepali opinion. But then again, you don't provide any sources of your claims. Nepali politics is fragmented at the moment.

Communism is a failed ideology and economic model. Part of the reason China is doing good is because of its free market economy. But then, there are issues of human rights as well.

There are plenty of examples of how pure Communism fails.

I don't know if Zabanya know Nepalis.

I commanded them in my career.

My sister in law is one.

So, which side are you talking from?

No ism can fail, be it communism or capitalism. I can show you 1/2 a century example where capitalism failed. Its the governance which can fail. China is so successfull because its their governance. Compare with Philipines and South Korea. Nepal was under capitalism ever since but failed too...

Dont show me how USSR failed and so on.. Socialism made USSR a super power who dominated half the world for almost a century. I will take that for my country if you gurantee me the same.

Where do you guys get your history lessons? And yes, there is more than enough evidence to prove the utter and pathetic failure of pure Communism. Surprising that this is coming from one living in the USA.

First of all, Nepal was a monarchy, not a Democratic system. It is now a multi-party Democracy since 2008. And it better stay that way.

There is nothing wrong with Capitalism. In fact, it is the best approach for any country. Look at Japan, it has no natural resources, and yet is it one of the richest and technologically advanced countries in the world. It was the very first Asian country to adopt Western technology.

Muhammad Yunus is already a hero of the Capitalist world and of-course Bangladesh. Ironic that he is so hated in his own country. Although I agree that there are limitations of micro-finance for the poor (i.e loan sharks).

Communism/Socialism can only work when we have a small population, and plentiful resources.

For Bangladesh, that is not the case. And in case you didn't know, one our country's key values is Socialism. I'd have to say, the AL and BNP have failed miserably to uphold basic Socialist ideals. It will never work either way. It has already failed.

The point for Bangladesh is that there must be a free flow of ideas stemming from formal education, and having strong links with educational and industrial/technological institutions around the world. This can benefit the government as well. And for that to happen, the private sector is needed. Small and medium sized businesses are very important.

If our government was just slightly better to begin with, our country would have done much better in the long term.

Communism/Socialism is not appropriate for Bangladesh and has never been appropriate for Bangladesh. It was idiotic for it to be included in the constitution.

Sir, If i'm not wrong Socialism/Communism are the first seeds of separate thinking and idealism between our two wings (Remember Maulana Bhashnis movement and struggle throughout 50's & 60's in east) and rightly take the Bengali nation towards independence in the end. I just don't understands why it is not appropriate for Bangladesh ever?

Yes, and it has failed. EPIC FAIL.

Maulana Bhasani's socialism envisioned also a separate entity in the east. But, it could not encourage people to fight for a separate homeland. When military crackdown started in March 1971, neither Bhasani's socialism nor AL's 6-point programm was in the forefront. These two were replaced with a new one point programme, i.e, a war of independence.

However, I must add that socialism is not dead in BD. Although it does not play a political role in today's Bangladesh, nevertheless, people are aware of social justice. This is the reason why today's Bangladesh has made quite a social progress. Almost all the social indexes are above our big neighbour.

These social advances have created a kind of tranquility in the minds of people that helped created harmony in the society. It will also play an important role to bring about an economic progress. Note that before these social progress was made the country was on the brink of total unrest and anarchism. I am talking about 1970s and early '80s. But, gradually we have advanced to a more social equality. You will not see a similar kind of unrest in today's Bangladesh.

Dear...there is no space for if's and but's than...., socialism/communism does good to bengali nation for uniting them against west Pakistanis hegemony once, i mean why you people always curse everything you come across at any moment, why don't you just brake your emotions for a while and have a gentle look at back without mere prejudice.

My 2 Cents.

The feudal society in west Pakistan did not change after 1947, but it was wiped out in the east by enacting laws in the east Pakistan Assembly. Note, it was the same Muslim League in both the wings. So, this shows a socialist trait was absent among the leaders and population of the west. So, Bhasani's call for socialist activities were limited in the east although he tried it in the west, too.

Bhasani envisioned a separate east Pakistan first. He declared, "Farmers, labours hold your gun, an independence is done." it is, "Krishak, sramik astro dharo, Purba Bangla Swadhin Karo." Very few, of course, accepted his slogan for separation. But, every one accepted a separation in the morning hours of 26th March when they saw the barbarism of west's military that aimed toremain in power by the threat of force.

Still you people r cursing socialist ideas to the core. Why don't you accept that it does some good at some point in time in your part of the country wholeheartedly?
