Rajini is probably India's biggest star. He has become this popular in North India only in the last few years...and it started with the Rajini jokes!

He became very famous after Shivaji?

He has a style which no other Indian star has

He is no handsome, he is not white, just his style and dialogue delivery made him a star.
Moreover his color is something, majority of boys can relate with :)

Rajinikanth now in CBSE textbooks

Southern superstar Rajinikanth, 62, is now literally back in school. CBSE textbooks in the 'Learning To Communicate' now include a chapter on him under the section 'Dignity Of Work' and titled 'From Bus Conductor To Superstar'. The chapter will speak about his rise from the humblest of beginnings to Tamil cinema's most enduring icon.

Rajinikanth, the son of a police constable, struggled to make ends meet for years before making it big as an actor. He worked a number of odd jobs before ending up as a bus conductor with Karnataka's transport corporation. A born performer, Rajinikanth would keep his bus passengers entertained and the first suggestions that he become an actor came from them.

When Rajinikanth finally joined the Madras Film Institute, his first step towards acting and showbiz, it was with the financial help of a close friend.

Now, Rajinikanth has countless blockbusters under his belt and reportedly became Asia's second highest paid actor after Jackie Chan with his fee from film Sivaji ( 2007). His is the proverbial rags-to-riches story, and will now be imbibed by generations of students.
