Humayun Ahmed is a complete different type of writer and a trend setter.
Samaresh was highly influenced by Gorki but his writing was great. Never liked Sunil though (Not of my taste). Saying so, I am out of touch of any literature for the last 20 years. So cant say anything about recent publications. I heard Anisur Rahman writings are good.
Yes. Humayun Ahmad has his class of his own and I don't know why I have a gloomy, sadistic feeling when I read him. Suneel Ganguly is a poet by heart. Some of his novels are real classics (Like Aranyak) but it will never be equal to the class he reached through poetry. Samaresh is a real gem of this age.But why do you think he is influenced by Gorky? He is politically leftist but I don't know he was influenced by Gorky or not. It is sad that the standard of writing have gone down. We do not see "Manab Zameen" or "Lota kombol" classics any more. And the new age writers like Harsha Dutta,Vani Basu or Tilottama Mazumder are way off the mark.
