During their Zoroastrian days they used to celebrate it by jumping around the fire although that has now changed to celebrating it with food, clothing, cultural events, poetry exhibitions etc etc.

Any festival that is not from Islam and was related to some pagan rituals is unislamic even if you remove those rituals.

Pagan rituals were performed as part of the celebration but the celebration itself wasn't around paganism. The celebration was about the first day of spring. The reason of celebration remained, just way of celebrating it has changed. That's got nothing to do with paganism.
