Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) chairman T Suvarna Raju on Thursday said that HAL is willing to take full responsibility for the Rafales that it manufactures if the contract with French Defence major Dassault is signed. The comment assumes significance in the backdrop of a disagreement between India and Dassault over who would take guarantee for the Rafale fighter jets.
The Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft project involves buying of 18 aircraft from Dassault in flyaway condition, while the rest are to be manufactured by HAL under license.

Until recently, they were asking Dassault to take responsibility for the aircrafts built at HAL. So yes, they were saying precisely that. If this news is true, it's sanity at last.

You misunderstand. HAL Will take Responsibility NOT Liability. :disagree:

No, it means the deadlock on Rafales has ended and deal will be signed soon.

As Indian government wanted Dassault to take full responsibility of aircrafts manufactured by HAL.

CHEERS

Any Cretin knows dassault cannot take responsibility for HAL's cackhanded manufacturing. It beggers belief that the morons at HAL want to pin the responsibility onto dassault .

You go into a shop buy a model plane kit, bring it home. Instead of using the right tools, following the instructions, built in the correct order, using stringent QC and tests, you decide its going to take far too long with your limited abilities and decide you know better.

When the thing falls from the sky, ask for a refund from the shop because they sold it to you and it is the shops responsibility.

Only in the gagaland that HAL inhabits can you do that.

You go into a gunshop buy a gun shoot yourself in the foot because you didnt put the safety catch on and then blame the gunshop and claim for a replacement foot. :nono::suicide::cuckoo::cuckoo:.

Not really, your interpretation is a bit off.

It's not HAL (or only HAL) which is asking Dassault to take responsibility for the license manufactured Rafales. The RFP absolutely requires that such a guarantee be given, and that forms the basis of the Government's assertion. What HAL says has no bearing on what is a legal issue.

Also, because violating the RFP requirements will pretty much make the deal invalid. I'm certain EF consortium will approach court against this blatant violation, and so will other interested/concerned individuals. he Govenment will be eaten alive by the opposition, the media and the CAG.

This has the hallmarks of a potential scam now, 10x Bofors.

Well you can see signs all around

A high powered delegation from France is on visit.

Dassault has declared, that it has not increased the prices from what it declared in RFP in 2012

IAF chief has publicly declared that Sukhois from Russia are not alternative Rafales.

And now this statement from HAL

Will the EF consortium or any other OEM be willing to take responsibility for the aircrafts manufactured by HAL?

What's the difference?

Responsibility is an obligation you have to do something in time and cost and quality promised.

Liability means that you're subject to repercussion (usually monetary) if the promise you made are not fulfilled, which can also be due to design flaws or process flaws etc.

All I see are signs of Dassault trying its best to win the deal. I suspect its CEO will loose his job if this deal fails to materialize.

IAF says Rafale OR any other aircraft can full fill MMRCA requirement.

HAL Chariman did not issue a statement, he responded to a question during an Interview. They are worlds apart.

.
Cheers? This sucks! We need to dump this horrendously expensive 4th gen fighter and go in for more cost effective jets like the Super Sukhois or the MiG-35. One can get two of them for the price of one Rafale!
