What's new

HAL Tejas AFM article.

The Tejas forced India to actually create a tech/manufacturing base required for designing its own aircraft. The Tejas has failed to replace the Mig 21 in a timely manner (hence MMRCA competition). Despite this, the AMCA might be a major success in the future.

Mmrca isn't the result of delayed tejas

why Indians are behind schedule

- bad planing
- overestimating of capabilities
- too many deciding parties
- some failed developments
- too slow decision making

Still the fighter has good potential, since it actually was developed with the right aims, but we already see people shifting there focus to other developments like AMCA.

But what about the manufacturing process learnt? the single piece composite construction.. the skills on design simulation?
All that must count towards the AMCA?

That's what I meant with material research, because the composite structure will be important for any other aircraft development too. The design on the other hand is totally different from LCA, since it don't really has stealth shapings of a stealth fighter. They will learn much more in this field from Pak Fa and especially from the re-design to FGFA.
In general LCA was and is very important for the Indian industry and they surely learned much, but there are still many issues that has to be sort out and they need much more experience to further develop themself and then we can talk about AMCA.
