The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has already started the work on Tejas Mk-II, with more focus on getting the private industries on board. P S Subramaniam, ADA Director told OneIndia that the aircraft modules for Tejas Mk-II will come from different private industries.

He said the Tejas Mk-II will be installed with high power GE 414 engine, an AESA (Active Electronically Scanned Array) radar, onboard oxygen generation, upgraded Flight Control System and contemporary Avionics. “The mechanical and electrical architecture will remain the same,” P S Subramaniam said.

Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) will play the lead integrators role. “The IAF has gone through the preliminary design review. The idea is to get more partners involved. Even for the naval variant we have started to work with a foreign agency now. The preliminary design will be ready by the final quarter of next financial year,” Dr Tamilmani said.

DRDO officials claimed that the first flight of Tejas MK-II will happen during the first half of 2018.

What do you exactly mean? o_O
I'm not complaining but you and some other members always post things like, India will do this or become that in so many years......such posts earned us the nick-name 'big-mouth' Indians 'cause India never finishes a project on time.....
IMHO, it's better to highlight news of India's current accomplishment than, what India will accomplish in 20XX.....
For ex., it's better to post news about Tejas Mark II when it will actually fly in 2018....'cause you know, India is notorious for delaying things....
Just my suggestion....rest is up to you....

I am sorry to say but how is Chanakya Chant responsible for your inferiority complex ? ......... the biggest "Big-mouths" in pdf are the Chinese, funny that you are so concerned about what they say.

The original goal was first flight in 2017. IMO, realistically speaking first flight in 2019 or 2020 and serial production start in 2025 or so.

But an AESA? IMO that is unlikely due to India having no AESA technology and AESA can only be bought from Israel.

BS.

The AWACS just handed to the IAF has an AESA, developed in India. The Arudhra 3d radar is also AESA.
