Hundreds Wounded In Riots as locals Tired of Corruption resort to Cannibalism, Looting​

A general strike shut down most of Haiti Wednesday as tension and uncertainty gripped the Caribbean country following deadly protests over the weekend and the president's unexplained absence from public.

Schools, shops and private businesses were closed in the main cities, heeding the opposition call for a general strike in the country, which is the poorest in the Americas and still battling to overcome a years-old cholera epidemic and the aftermath of a major earthquake. Locals revived cannibalism in the wake of food shortages and price hikes.

Haiti President Jovenel Mbala Moïse, who had remained silent as calls for his resignation paralyzed the country with violence and protests in recent days, finally addressed the nation Wednesday, reminding Haitians that he is the elected president and anyone wanting the job will have to wait.

The international community called Thursday on Haiti's political leaders to open a dialogue in the wake of deadly protests against President Jovenel Moise.

According to the police the car, that was later set alight by the protesters, lost a wheel when it lost control and killed six persons on the street.

Haitian police say one of their officers has been killed by a street gang and much of the country is paralyzed by a second day of protests over allegations of government corruption.

Well, cannibalism has been a part of Haiti's history since the slaves who were brought over from the African interior (where cannibalism is still practiced in places like Congo) by West African tribes who would enslave other Black Africans and sell them to the Europeans just as they had been selling them to Arabs before Europeans arrive.

I dont hold Haitians in any high regard overall...bar a very few that I have made friends with. Here in Canada they are associated with poverty, backward thinking and living on welfare, being lazy...so its no surprise their home country is such a mess (I think its the only true complete 3rd world country in Western Hemisphere, though Venezuela seems to be eager to join them quickly).

All this voodoo etc stemming from the complex they have of being imported slave labour for the French (whom they revolted against and brutally purged afterwards) is less said the better as far as I am concerned. I mean can just contrast literally with the other country on the same island (Dominican republic) which are doing much much better because they dont have that attitude and culture but rather much more "in charge of our destiny" one (and they do look down on Haitians a lot as well as result).

There is reason I mock Bangladeshis in USA as earning less than Haitians there do....its a very low bar that takes real dumb effort to be underneath.

Give Europeans an Island and you get Britain

Give Asians an Island and you get Japan

Give Blacks an Island and you get..... Haiti

Also keep in mind Haiti was the wealthiest Island in the Caribbean under the French colonial rule, all of this changed when the Africans violently overthrew the French ruling class and they didn't stop there, they also violently purged mulatto/half breeds as well. Only pure Africans were spared.

Haiti was also the second country in the Western hemisphere to overthrow a colonial power and gain independence (the first being the American Revolution under Goerge Washington), however unlike America no one wants to move to Haiti today, so that should tell you alot about the different paths these two countries took.

The few Haitians I made friend with are the older ones working in shops and such places etc....there is very sweet Haitian elder lady working in grocery I go to for example.

They got a fair dose of the inkling and rewards of hard work/independence basically before Canadian welfare system got too stupid and bloated....and infected the younger and middle aged ones with what they largely are now....that they can just join gangs, peddle drugs and live in public housing all their years instead of trying to do something with their lives....because the welfare will always top them off as needed. Its disgusting what developed countries do (for easy politic votebank + feelings) to squander the hard work of earlier generations.
