Hafiz Saeed prays for Osama

Lahore: Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) activists led by their chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed offered funeral prayers in absentia at the group's headquarters in Lahore today for Osama bin Laden, killed by US forces in an operation in northwest Pakistan.

A large number of JuD workers gathered at Markaz Al-Qadsia and joined the prayers for the Al Qaeda chief led by Saeed, also the founder of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Addressing the gathering after the prayers, Saeed said: "Allah accept the sacrifice of bin Laden and give him a place in heaven."

Bin Laden had made sacrifices for Muslims around the world and he would be remembered for long, Saeed said.

He said it was regrettable that Pakistan's rulers expressed "pleasure" at the death of bin Laden to please their "masters" in America.

Pakistan's rulers "should not invite the wrath of God" as bin Laden acted as a "spokesman of the people of Pakistan" and the whole nation was saddened by his death, Saeed claimed.

Saeed said funeral prayers in absentia for bin Laden would be offered in other parts of the country.

Karachi: Hundreds offer funeral prayer for Osama

Karachi: Hundreds of JuD activists on Tuesday offered funeral prayer for slain Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden on one of Karachi's busiest roads, calling him a "martyr of Islam".

The funeral prayer in absentia for Osama was held amid heavy presence of police and para-military as nearly a thousand supporters of the banned Hafiz Saeed led Jamat ud Dawah descended on the streets.

The supporters held the funeral prayer and chanted slogans calling Osama bin Laden a martyr of Islam.

"He is a martyr of Islam and laid down his live for Muslims. He fought for Muslims," Engineer Naved Qamar, the Ameer of JuD Karachi said.

Before and after the funeral prayer held on a service road on the main university road where a well-known religious school is located, young men shouted slogans in favour of bin Laden and against the United States and its President Barack Obama.

Police officials earlier tried to convince the JuD leaders to postpone the funeral prayer or hold it inside closed premises but they did not relent.

A representative of the Jammat ul Islam (JUI), a mainstream politio-religious party, was also present at the prayers.

The JuD is led by Hafiz Saeed who is on India's most wanted list and blamed for masterminding the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

In Quetta, the capital of Pakistan's Balochistan province, hundreds had taken to the streets yesterday to pay homage to bin Laden, chanting death to America and setting fire to a US flag, witnesses and organisers said.

Angry participants belonging to a religious party in Quetta were led by federal lawmaker Maulawi Asmatullah.

They also torched a US flag before dispersing peacefully.

nothing special ....he was a Muslim and and funeral prayers should offer..

Did they simply just offer a prayer???

Didn't they also burn U.S. flags and praise bin laden as martyr???

If there are none in islam who stand out to criticize those idiots, how would you make outsiders trust your religion with good intention?

. .

Idiots like him should not be considered as Human Being.. leave religion behind.. Indian Muslims denied to offer rituals to terrorists.. and That makes sense.. Killing innocents is not respected in any religion..

Hafizz Saeed must be praying for his own safety now when OBL is gone, who was the main Fund-raiser for islamic Jihadis/Terrorists. Religious Ideology can not be blamed. It's the resource/money and robust orgnizational setups on which terrorism thrives on.
People, those who are declaring OBL as martyr or savior of Islam, need to answer very simple question that who put Islam in danger and what Jihadis has achieved for Islam so far?
