What's new

Had Nehru waded into Doklam

According to China's foreign minister, China is still patrolling Donglang, as well as setting up permanent garrisons there. And to add salt to the wound, he also said that the road would be completed too. :P This is from the official statement.

The problem is he did not give the timeline for the road completion :P

It could be a 100 years from now

A decent summary @Carlosa

What can I say? Only brainwashed, ultranationalist chinese teenagers aka most PDF chinese believe the chinese government statements.

I'm in China right now, anything in the media that doesn't follow the official story is blocked, so no wonder how these people get brainwashed, but still, just about all the chinese people here that I talk to, nobody believes anything the government says, nobody likes / trusts the chinese government. PDF style chinese are definitely in the minority.

We did had people who were more capable than Modi and Doval back in the days but unfortunately they were sidelined due to Gandhi's undying love for Nehru.

Gandhi chose Nehru only for the transition period when India got independence. This was not a bad move, since Nehru had the finesse to deal with the british and cajole them to help us during those early chaotic days.

Gandhi was a chatur baniya beyond any doubt.

But its the public who voted for Nehru after we got independence and that was our mistake, not Gandhi's.

Sardar Patel died in 1950 and the first general election after independence was held in 1951.

It was unfortunate that there were no other tall leaders who could challenge Nehru or disagree with Nehru by then. Most of them were outside CONgress.

Shyma Prasad Mookerjee, Ambedkar, Acharya Kriplani, Ram Manohar Lohia, Jai Prakash Narayan etc.

You can blame Gandhi only up to a point.

Nehru WAS an Idiot

Why is India expected to suffer from Nehruvian ideals ; policies

India has changed ; the world has changed

His Panchasheel policy however survives and has gained global acceptance, recognition and respect.

His mistake was not to back up that policy with strength. But the policy itself was sound.

Those people were clearl not at the top of the food chain. I'm talking about people at the top.

India withdrew unilaterally without concessions. But Modi need to maintain his popularity for next election thus he fired Jaitley. If India had won this standoff why would Jaitley be fired? Modi would have made a chest thumping speech if what the useless Indian media say is true. Since it's not true and no official address is coming from India FM, obviously India lost the stand off. Chinese FM made it very clear on the Indian withdrawal and the road building

It is very interesting coincidence that Senior PLA officer was removed just when Do-lam was resolved. It was withdrawal of both armies as well as removal of road making equipment by China, confirmed by International news sources. Senior PLA officer is known for his hardline position and seen as opponent to Xi. I am discounting both India and China-Pak media here.
CPC meeting in China which was pushed to Nov17 is changed back to Oct17 date post Do-lam resolution. Lots of connected and interesting incidents which unfortunately not reported well in Indian media. Instead of shouting and posting unnecessary comments, see who is taking action and where. No such sacking happened in India.

His Panchasheel policy however survives and has gained global acceptance, recognition and respect.

Anything policy/ theory which is not working needs to be replaced with competent one. Instead of taking moral position, which no one cares, time is to put relevant policy and gain out of it.
