I don't seriously understandt why Indians are dying to get H1B visas.

On almost every other thread they brag about how great is India with $2.9 trillions economy and greatest growth rate the world has ever witnessed and when it comes to working in their own country, almost everyone is ready to leave the country given a half chance.


Things do not really match up here...somthing is wrong.

I was always wondering what exactly Indian IT industry was exporting, to make the industry India's biggest exporter. I have never heard of any Indian software, nor had I used any Indian Apps like I use Wechat，Clean Master or Antutu from China on my smartphones.

Unless your are technically good you wont understand any thing. Have you used products from accenture or capgemini...etc I bet you would not even know their names either.

Can someone explain how India really earns from h1b visas ? With someone claiming that 90 % of our earnings dependent on it .
By my calculations ...
85000 h1b visas per year.
Indians get 80 % .
ie 68000.
earning per person usd 60000.
ie 60000 × 68000 = 4080000000 = 4.08 billion usd.
For a 3 yr period , assuming 100 % stay back in the US = 4.08 x 3 = 12.24 billion usd.

How does this translate to 90 % of 100 billion $ , which are Indias export ?

Its not the problem with Indian H1's its a problem with US companies who want cheap labor. Nothing prevents the greedy companies from hiring from their own ppl.

If you think only Indian H1B's are problem , then can you explain how there are more illegal immigrants from mexico(other countries) in US? Atleast H1bs have come in legally but what about illegals. If americans were really concerned about it they would have cracked on it long time back. But they did not? simple reason being they benefit from it just like corruption does.
There is no charity happening here, when they keep swinging back & forth for a decade or two about illegals. Its not about Indians if they find cheap better labor elsewhere they will go there. Its not that visas are given exclusively for Indians only, they are given for other nationals as well. Its only that we beat the crap out of their system squarely that others are pissed off. It will be Indians today and africans tomorrow. ppl who introduce the competition should also adapt to it!

They say the same thing about chinese currency being devalued and imports being cheaper. But have they taken any action so far? All in all instead of ranting & raving US govt if they are sincere should stop issuing visas and be done with it. It will be interesting to see how their business model will work with out cheap chinese goods or cheap indian labour.

Those figures include citizens and permanent residents, not H-1B visa workers.

Also that can't be possible.There is a minimum wage for H1B holders.The article is filled up is discrepancy.

Remittance is the only thing that keeps the indian economy afloat.. with h1b being the most ‘lucrative’ part.. without it India can kiss the 8% growth goodbye. that's why they are so nervous...

I never said Indians or Indian companies were doing anything illegal. they are exploiting loopholes that need to be closed.

As I said nothing prevents US from doing it but the question you should ask is why they are not doing it? Is it due any special love or connection to Indian sambhar or chutney?
