I met a Dalit at the university I work. 99% of the applicants at our university belong to the upper caste. He is the only guy in years to have made it to the university. Guess how the other upper caste Indians treat him? You guessed it right. He told me that it is all a lie. Upper caste Indians love to showcase the image that they are tolerant towards their lower caste population, but in reality the hate overrules. It is all a smokescreen. The upper caste Indians are in elite positions and the few Dalit who make it on top are handpicked and closely scrutinized. The reason why so few Dalit are sent on scholarships abroad is because the upper caste Indians know the sentiment.

Brahmins high post positions could be caste based for now because of advantage they had for so long. But the admixture is not going to remain constant and things will change more rapidly as we integrate more. We are more into inclusivity as we integrate and assimilate.

Maybe 5% have documents that are embellished but it is difficult to prove. On average $6000 is spent on each applicant to bring them to US. These companies stand to lose big time if they are on shaky ground.

Now people from all strata of the society are aspiring for high tech jobs which used to be the domain of only the educated elites which was dominated by Brahmins and business class like baniyas. Now, the urban educated middle class, who are liberal and progressive are casting away the age old traditions and are choosing their own partners. I have two of my family members who are married to brahmin girls.

I worked with few in IBM way back, most Indian there had non computer science education with a 3 month certificate in something and fake experience documents, since we are desi and comfortable with each other they would brag about it. I am not saying this to put Indians down but each one of them maintained a phone book (this was back in early 2000s) and would be on the phone half the time getting help from some buddy. they are mostly fired by a third party consulting company who would send them to Lucent and ATT with very nice resume...and no they were being paid shit. average salary at Accenture is 120+ for "qualified" so you know how median comes down to 75K
