Just to clear the air and let a little sunshine in.
The mineral resources of Pakistan is mostly in Balochistan, The Gas is in abundnace while the largest deposit of copper is there too. In fact, when one wants to know about the mineral resources of Paksitan, it is Balochistan which can say, "You name it, we have it".

Therefore, there is no doubt that it is the Crown Jewel of Pakistan.
The Gwadar port in its current state of hinterland development is not of significance, but its strategic value is of utmost interest to China and the USA.
The electronic snooping facilities of China at Gwadar will allow it to monitor the activities of the USA in the Middle East. While the deep water port will allow China to extend its influence in the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea to counterbalance the US interest in these areas. Hence, denial of the Gwadar port to China becomes an important strategic issue for the USA.
The US influence in Balochistan is also of importance, apart from the resources which the US companies with better technology can exploit more efficiently than any other country, also allow the US to box in Iran as also permits forays into FATA and NWFP to eliminate the AQ remnants. A pincer from Balochistan and Afghanistan will reap good results.
The Russians are interested in Balochistan so that the US plans to rid the Taleban from Afghanistan is frustrated by encouraging anti US sentiments in the NWFP and FATA so that Afghanistan does not stabilise.
If India is interested in Balochistan then it would be just to copy Pakistan in "extending moral support" to the freedom fighters in Balochistan as Pakistan does in Kashmir.
Pakistan's interest is that it cannot allow its golden goose to be taken away. So air strikes and artillery is but natural against its own citizens.
Given the resources, one can easily surmise as to who is really interested in Balochistan.
