What's new

Guys, how is the food security situation in your cities?

One of the most interesting things about the people who flock to "organic" food stores is that they criticize global warming "deniers" as being stupid and anti-science, and yet, there is no science that shows any advantage of "organic" agriculture.

Maybe there is not much research done but isnt it obvious? We evolved in this nature and the more we keep towards nature, the better we will do. We did not know effects of plastic when we discovered it but now we know. So id say we are better off by consuming natural stiff.

The point is all of the food we eat is "organic" in the chemistry sense, carbon compounds that can be metabolized by humans. The only difference between organic and non-organic is, presumably but not proven, lower trace amounts of pesticide and manufactured fertilizer compounds. But these "non-organic" compounds are present in very, very tiny amounts and there is no scientific evidence that our "organic" human cleansing systems (liver, kidneys, etc.) can't handle it for the 80 years we live until something else kills us. "Organic" agriculture is not productive enough to produce enough calories and nutrients for the earth's human population. Eating "organic" food is a rich person's fetish. The wasted money would be better spent providing non-organic food to populations struggling to have enough to eat each day.

Maybe the difference is little but remember organic farming is also beneficial for the environment too. All those pesticides and fertilizers end up in our water system. As i said there is also not enough research to confidently say organic is not any better. Organic farming on large scale requires an eco system and thus even more beneficial. I do not agree about the requirements of food, we still have huge lands baren and grasslands. If we cultivate and make use of most of land, we wont require high yield crops and go for GMO.

In Bavaria, we have still plenty of food. But I recognized, last time, the amount of eggs are 8.74 Percent less than last week.

.
More and more.orgsnic or bio food companies are being bought by bigger multinationals. So we have to be careful.
Pukka is bought by Unilever for example.
There is no such thing as non chrmicallised food in 1st world. We woul be lucky to have an unwaxed apple. I miss countries like Pakistan where food is more organic or at least it was used to be
.Im Belgium , we are good with food. All sorts of things are availablr.

update

There seems to be a horde of fanatics going after toilet rolls, I only managed to get some after visiting a 3rd supermarket, which itself was miles away from home... cooking oils shelfs now seem scarce, ironically their only bulking up on the cheaper varients/ brands, I guess olive oil doesn't tickle their fancy stupid flock of sheep creating unnecessary hysteria, other shelfs are a bit more empty then usual.. I just hope it doesn't spiral out of control and end up creating a food shortage..
